RAINING & TRAINING: it bucketed down most of the day ☔ but it didn't dampen the enthusiasm 🤸

After a reasonably early Saturday night to bed 🛌, our Cadet students were up at 0600, ready for the downhill slide to complete their Cadet Lance Corporal Course with only minimal disruption caused by the rain.

Some lessons and activities were relocated to remain dry and still achieve the experience. Cadets had their first go at delivering Verbal Orders in a SMEAC format which was a nervous achievement for many.

Bribes of Hot Dogs 🌭 for lunch were not needed, with everyone getting up to give it a go and realising that it wasn't quite so hard after all.

Our new group of Lance Corporal qualified Cadets will be an asset in the formation of the 2027 Unit structure as we commence our Recruiting for the new year.

Well done all, a big thank-you to the CUO and NCOs who largely staffed the weekend 👏

LANCE CORPORAL: thirty Cadets are spending the weekend in Barracks as the Unit conducts it's Cadet Lance Corporal Course plus other training to prepare Cadets for roles in the 2027 Unit Structure.

Students and Cadet Instructions have tackled a range of Leadership discussions, Health and Safety Assessments, Group Dynamics and Orders.

Cadets experienced a bit of Navy routine to start the weekend, accommodating with Cadets in barracks from Training Ships based in Townsville, Mackay and Rockhampton.

Light's Out, Fire Drill and Reveille were piped by Boatswain's Call instead of the Bugler.

All part of a full weekend's learning experience.

CLIPPED ON: being able to fly our Australian and Unit Flags might seem a simple task, but without some important necessities, not so.

Thank-you to Gina's Flags for having Inglefield Clips on hand to replace some of ours that were broken or nearly worn through.

Together with some team activities, tonight was spent reconditioning after AFX and starting to prepare for ceremonial events in November 🇦🇺

BUSY MORNING: a great morning at the Coral Sea Marina Gardens for the Whitsunday Emergency Services Field Day 🚑🚨🚒🚔🧑‍🚒⛑️🧯🦺👮🚓

Army Cadets joined with Queensland Police, Fire, Ambulance, SES, Marine Rescue, PCYC, Greater Whitsunday Mental Health, the Lion's Club, Whitsunday Disaster Management and Whitsunday Regional Council for an awareness day as we head towards another summer of heightened risks such as cyclones 🌀

A big turnout from the community with heaps of interest shown at all stands.

Cadets enjoyed some lighthearted interaction between the various services, with demonstrations, challenges and competitions.

Some keen interest in joining Army Cadets, with our Detachment parading in Proserpine on a weekly basis. Contact us about joining 😃

DONUT KINGS: contrary to popular belief in the Emergency Services, Army Cadets hold the crown in donut eating, with a few fun competitions held this morning.

A donut eating race at this morning's Emergency Services Field Day held at the Coral Sea Marina Gardens saw CDT Greenhill chomp into 1st place and CDTLCPL Lando speed nibble for 2nd place against Police, Fire, Ambulance, SES and other competitors.

A fun morning with some great interaction with Emergency Services and teenagers interested in joining Army Cadets in the Whitsundays.

COME ON DOWN: camouflage and face paint has been a hit all morning with young locals at the Whitsunday Emergency Services Field Day being held at the Coral See Marina Gardens.

A lot of interest at the Army Cadet Stall as the Emergency Services host an event as part of 'Queensland Get Ready Week', heading into another cyclone season.
