Hi everyone, this Natasha Tomlinson, Social Media marketing person. I am back again for week 5, it's my first day back after being on holiday. 😁🎉

Wearable Art: 🎨
For today's class, I was working on my purple wings, and then with the help of Lauren, I used a glue gun to add some sparkles and glitter to make it look fancy.

For Art Sake: 🖌
We focused on our self portraits, I was learning how to draw a self portrait that was taught by Hannah we learnt how to add colour to our images.

Performance in the Gallery: 😀👌
Today we were in Artspace again, we looked at the self portraits, the group activity was to interpret how the portraits would act. And then at the end of the workshop we all watched each other's group performances based on the portrait on the display. So we interpreted the portraits and then interpreted them as if they were a scene. Georgia clapped us out today.

Stretchy pants: 🤸🏽
Charlee started the workshop by getting us to move around the space for the warm up. We got into small groups of two or three people then practiced interpretive dance based on the emotion card we were given. Then after that we got into two large groups while Charlee held up a photo of a bus stop and an emotion card, then we created an interpretive dance based on that combination. Sherrie clapped us out.

ROAR: 🤩
In ROAR today we did movements and actions, we got into two big groups and then for our group performance we acted out a roller coaster ride. My fiance Michael got sick on the rollercoaster and threw up! As part of the performance I hurt my arm and leg. And then Krisry stopped the roller coaster. I also love the second group, they did a restaurant scene and Matt was a doctor who helped Georgia who passed out. Kristy clapped us out today.

🌳 Tim Fairfax Family Foundation Executive Leadership Program 2026 🌳

Crossroad Arts Artistic Director/CEO, Autumn Skuthorpe, was invited to attend the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation Executive Leadership program in partnership with UQ Executive Education Business School

Over the weekend Autumn undertook learning intensives around leadership and navigating the ever changing landscape of the non-profit sector. Amongst the formal learnings there was also rich peer learning from the other CEOs in the cohort.

“A heartfelt thanks to the TFFF team and UQ professors for a deep and considered weekend of learning. I will take away the learnings to strengthen our organisation and the weekend was energising. I also want to extend thanks to the cohort for being so generous and collaborative with their knowledge. The sector is certainly in good hands with such dedicated change makers representing their communities.” Autumn reflected.

The Tim Fairfax Family Foundation has been a long time supporter of Crossroad Arts and regional communities across Queensland and the Northern Territory. Their investment and capacity building support through professional development opportunities like these has been instrumental in the growth of for purpose organisations in regional and remote Australia.

Workshop program Week 4

Hi everyone, Hannah filling in for this weeks workshop update 🎉

Wearable Art: 😍🤩
In Wearable Art, Shae moved on to the next part of her costume which is a neck plate. Daisy worked on making a gold ribbon for her collar and Paige glued the different pieces of her axe together.

For Art Sake: 😁🫶
In For Art’s Sake, we learned about using symbolism in portraits. We looked at the art of Frida Kahlo and other portrait artists that use symbolism in their works. We used the examples to think about how we would be able to portray ourselves if we could only use symbols to show our personality.

Stretchy pants: 🎉👌
We did a lot of team work this week we broke out the stretchy string and got into pairs, then for a big team work activity we balanced a ball between string, the goal was to communicate and rely on each other to lift the object as high as possible.

ROAR: 👌😎
For ROAR today, we did some games, at the first part of the class we were in a circle and we did some miming exercise as a warmup. Then we were given a special item card. Rachel was in my group, we were given a packet of cards and for our performance we mimed ourselves playing cards. Rachel clapped us out today.

Week 3 workshop update

Hi, Hannah filling in for this week’s art class updates. 🤩

Wearable Art: 🤩😎
Shae finished her headpiece! Everyone was busy putting finishing touches on their current projects, and some people started planning their next project!

In For Art’s Sake: 😍😁
We looked at making abstract and stylised portraits. We looked at the artwork of Riccardo Guasco and tried to apply his techniques of taking a photo of a person and turning it into an abstract artwork to our own portraits!

Performance in the Gallery: 😄
Hi, Charlee here filling in here for Tash. Today we were in the gallery, and had an artist talk with Dylan Mooney about the latest exhibit featured in Artspace all about Self-portraits

Hi everyone its Tash I am back from holidays. 🎉

ROAR: 👌👌
For the first part of the workshop, we did a dance warm up, that was fun. Then we did a few theatre games. We played “Freeze Frame Frenzy” and “Prop Pandemonium” and then for the last part of today’s workshop we got into groups of three to four and we created a story with the props. My good friend Georgia clapped us out today.

🥳WORKSHOP PROGRAM WEEK 2 🥳

Hi everyone, Tash is away this week, Hannah and Charlee is filling for this week

Hi folks, Hannah filling in for Tash for Monday's Art workshop update

Wearable Art: 😄😆
Shae, was working on her head piece, Daisy, was putting gloss varnish on her costume that looks like a pin cushion. Page was making an axe out of foam.

Art Sake post: 🎨😁
This week, we worked on proportions of the face. We learned where all of the facial features sit and how to measure them. Then, we worked on making faces with the skills we had learnt!

Hi Charlee, here filling in for Stretchy Pants and ROAR workshop update.

Stretchy Pants: 🙂😎
We moved around the room for the warm up. Then everyone lined up into four lines and a hacky sack ball was passed between each other and the ball was prompted to be something else, for example sticky, smelly and heavy. Then in groups of two and three we created performances based on the given emotion card.

ROAR: 🤩🥳
In ROAR today the focus was to work on our improvising skills. And we played a game called “Yes, let’s do that”. At the end of the class. We did a series of performances. One person in the group chose a scenario, then the other people in the group had to guess what I was.
