If you're finishing Year 12 in 2026 and:

- Aren't receiving an ATAR,
- Don't meet the entry requirements for your preferred degree, or
- Have only recently decided that university might be an option,

Then EmpowerED could be your pathway into Griffith University.

The program is:

✅ Free
✅ 100% online
✅ Self-paced

It is designed to help you prepare for university by building skills in areas such as academic writing, critical reading, referencing, mathematics, and general study skills.

The best part? Successfully completing EmpowerED can provide guaranteed admission into a range of Griffith undergraduate degrees, subject to the requirements of your chosen program.

So, if you thought not getting an ATAR meant university wasn't an option, think again. EmpowerED offers an alternative pathway to help you get there.

Study full-time, part-time or 100% online and you'll get our support to succeed.

While the October intake officially started on 5 October 2026, you haven't missed out. Because the program is online and on-demand, you can still enrol, complete your studies, and be ready to commence an undergraduate degree at Griffith in Trimester 1, 2027.

Our 2026 QATSIF Yarning With Our Elders project is now open...

QATSIF (Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation) in partnership with the Australian Catholic University (ACU) is inviting all Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander secondary students to yarn with, learn from, and share the stories, wisdom and cultural heritage of our Elders.

Over Term 4, we are inviting students to yarn with an Elder and with their permission, record one important aspect of their life. Some examples could be:

- What was it like growing up in their local community?
- Their Stolen Generations or Stolen Wages story.
- What is their advice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people?
- Important local traditional language words, their meaning and pronunciation.
- Important local traditional stories, dances, technology or history.
- What did they learn from their own Elders?

Students are invited to share their Elder’s story using any appropriate media eg. video, voice recordings, essay, poetry, music, interviews etc.

All entries will be recognised with a certificate and a trophy or medallion. ACU will assist with collating and preserving these important stories for future generations and may offer prizes for outstanding entries.

You can check out our previous entries and grab an entry form at: https://www.qatsif.org.au/yarning-with-our-elders-project

Entries close: Friday November 6, 2026.

Inspirational past QATSIF student, Jordan Roulstone (pictured front and centre) is one of two QUT students among the eight Indigenous Australian students who is in the United States for a 10-week placement at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

He recently shared his inspirational story with ABC News - https://youtu.be/BF9XiYsbQyQ

The program is part of Monash University’s pioneering National Indigenous Space Academy (NISA), which aims to build Indigenous participation in Australia’s growing space sector.

Jordan is currently a third-year student completing his Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) (Honours) and Bachelor of Information Technology (Computer Science).

Jordan said, “I’m fascinated by how AI can be used to improve current meteorology tools and solve some of the biggest challenges in space exploration.”

“NISA will give me the opportunity to learn from people working at the forefront of these fields.

“I want to build a career that contributes to Australia’s future in space and advanced engineering, but I also want to help create a future where more Indigenous young people can see themselves in STEM".
