It is with deep sadness we acknowledge the passing of Rex Hocking.

As shared by the SA Yard Dog Association, Rex was more than just a member — he was a familiar face, a steady presence, and a true mate to so many. He had a genuine love for yard dog trialling and for the people involved in it, always offering encouragement, advice, or a friendly chat. His kindness, humility, and commitment to the community have left a lasting mark.

Rex was heavily involved with the Lucindale Lions Club and the South East Field Days for a long time, giving generously of his time and contributing so much to our wider community. Many will also remember Rex featuring on the ABC’s Back Roads episode on Lucindale in 2025, where his character and connection to the community shone through. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Our sincere condolences go out to his family at this time. We are thinking of you all during this difficult time.

Congratulations to Jason Malseed on winning the Judo Bank Engel Fridge competition at this year’s Southeast Field Days 🎉
