Today, Lorne Rural Fire Brigade proudly celebrates 70 years of serving and protecting our community.

This milestone honours the generations of volunteers who have given their time, skills and dedication, alongside the families and community members who have supported them.

As we celebrate our history, we’re looking to the future — and inviting new volunteers to join our team.

Great to be able to train with our local brigades and even our brothers and sisters in Fire and Rescue NSW

🚒 Joint Training Day! 🔥

Today our brigade joined forces with NSW RFS - Camden Haven Brigade, Johns River Fire Brigade Public Page and NSW RFS - Lorne Brigade, along with Fire and Rescue NSW Station 358 Laurieton, for some great multi-agency training.

Today’s training focused on CABA operations in hot and warm zones, as well as communications — building the skills and confidence needed to work safely and effectively at incidents.

But it’s not all about the training! 🤝 Multi-agency exercises are also a great opportunity to get to know the crews we work alongside. When an incident happens, we can’t always choose who we’ll be working with, so having familiar faces and understanding how each agency operates makes a big difference.

A big thank you to everyone who took part today. It was a great day of learning and teamwork!👨‍🚒🔥

🔥 A reminder as we head into the upcoming fire season 🔥

Please keep drones away from bush and grass fires.

If a drone is operating near a fire, firefighting aircraft will be unable to safely operate, impacting our ability to support crews on the ground and protect the community.

🚁 If you fly, we can’t.

🔥 Do you or someone you know need help preparing for bush fire season?
The NSW RFS AIDER Program offers a FREE, one-off service to support elderly, infirm, or disabled residents living in bush fire prone areas.

Our crews can assist with practical work to help make properties safer, including:
✅ Clearing leaves, sticks and fallen branches
✅ Trimming trees and overhanging branches
✅ Mowing or slashing long grass
✅ Cleaning gutters
✅ Reducing excess vegetation
RFS staff will also carry out a property assessment and can assist in developing a Bush Fire Survival Plan.

Hey all, permits are not required from today for any fire that you want to light. Remember that you still need to advise firecom that you are burning and your neighbours 24 hours in advance.

This will prevent us having to respond to your home if your burning off in non permit season as we can find out who is burning in that area
