The Outback Thistle Pipe Band A Scottish Bagpipe Band in the middle of Western Queensland!

The Outback Thistle Pipe Band is in its 6th year of entertaining crowds and marching in numerous parades in the region. The brainchild of Sarah Button, Nicolette Strang and Lachlan Rich, all experienced in the operation of the great highland bagpipes, since their coming together in Longreach the band has gone from strength to strength, playing at ANZAC Day parades and services in Winton, Longreach

and Ilfracombe, Easter Parades, Council Functions, The Greatest Show on Earth, Muttaburra sheep shows, Longreach shows and for the Govenor of QLD, Ms Penelope Wensley AO, just to name a few. The band has encouraged a few rusty pipers and drummers in the region to dust off the instuments and blow out a few spiders and cobwebs and get kilted again. likewise the band has taken learners on from scratch, giving them the opportunity to play our wonderful instruments under the instruction of ourselves and tutors from the QLD Police Pipe band amongst others.
