Another Agfest done and dusted, and what a fantastic few days it was!

A huge thank you to all of our ADA members who gave up their time to help make this year’s Agfest such a success.

From setting up and packing down, to manning the site, chatting with the public, organising displays, and answering countless questions about hunting, conservation, and the ADA, every single contribution mattered.

Events like Agfest don’t happen without dedicated people behind the scenes, and our branch is incredibly lucky to have such a hardworking and passionate group. The camaraderie, laughs, teamwork, and willingness to jump in wherever needed is what makes this organisation so special.

It was great to see so many people stop by for a chat and show interest in what we do. Hopefully we’ve inspired a few future hunters and conservationists along the way.

Thank you again to everyone involved. You should all be very proud of the effort you put in representing the ADA this year.
See you all at the next one! 🦌

A great result at Agfest 2026 for the Australian Deer Association Tassie crew! 🦌

Pictured is ADA Tasmanian Coordinator Scott Freeman alongside representatives from other organisations involved with SHOT – Shooting, Hunting and Outdoors Tasmania, highlighting the strong cooperation and united approach developing across Tasmania’s hunting, shooting, and outdoor communities.

The ADA is proud to support collaboration that ensures regional voices, responsible hunters, and outdoor users are represented in the important conversations ahead.

A big thank you to Scott for his outstanding work representing the ADA in Tassie and throughout Agfest, and to all the volunteers who gave their time across the three days to man the ADA stand, speak with the public, and promote responsible hunting, conservation, and deer management.

Events like Agfest are only possible because of dedicated volunteers and strong community support — thank you to everyone who stopped by and had a chat with the team.

As the dust settles as we wrap up three big days at Agfest in Launceston, the response has been nothing short of incredible.

Across the event, we had the chance to speak with thousands of Tasmanians. People from all walks of life stopped in, shared their thoughts, and made it very clear that there is strong concern around any proposed changes to our gun laws.

If there’s one thing that stood out, it’s this. People are paying attention, and they care.

On top of that, we collected over 3,300 additional signatures for the Tasmanian parliamentary petition during the event. That brings the total to more than 11,500 signatures, which we’re told is a significant number for a petition of this kind in Tasmania.

This doesn’t happen without people showing up and getting involved.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported this so far. From those who helped get Shooting, Hunting and Outdoors Tasmania up and running in such a short time, to everyone who stopped by, had a chat, and signed the petition.

Special thanks to the following for their support and effort throughout the week to get SHOT all setup and launched in time for Agfest.

- Sports Hut Launceston
- SIFA - Shooting Industry Foundation of Australia
- ClayHQ
- Tasmanian Sporting Clays

We’re just getting started.

If you haven’t already, please take a moment to sign the petition, share it with others, and help keep the momentum going. Every voice matters.

Introducing Shooting, Hunting and Outdoors Tasmania (SHOT)

SHOT brings together a broad cross-section of Tasmania’s shooting, hunting, farming, and outdoor organisations - united by a shared purpose.

For the first time, groups from across the state have come together, aligned in their thinking, and committed to working collectively to represent the people who live, work, and enjoy Tasmania’s outdoor way of life.

This is about more than any one organisation.

It’s about protecting our heritage, our sport, our recreation, and our livelihoods - and ensuring that future decisions are fair, practical, and informed by those directly impacted.

There are important conversations ahead regarding proposed changes that may impact our community. It’s vital that those voices are heard, and that any decisions reflect real-world understanding and experience.

We believe in:
• Responsible firearm ownership
• Fair and balanced legislation
• Supporting regional communities
• Protecting Tasmania’s outdoor way of life

If you value Tasmania’s outdoor community, we invite you to follow along, share the page, and be part of what comes next.

A united voice for Tasmania’s outdoors.
