🐾 The RuffTRACK Wrap – Week 6
Taking Ownership, Building Resilience & Being Accountable.

Another big week at RuffTRACK, with our Young People continuing to learn that taking ownership means being prepared to have a go, make decisions and take responsibility for the things within their control, which contributes to building resilience. From our general program to our Healing Paws visits, with a shout out to Mt Druitt Public School and Kurrajong Nursing Home, there were plenty of opportunities to step up, contribute and make a difference.

A Wonderful Community Project for Hunter Valley HIDEAWAY - working together, the Young People collaborated on a plan, shared their ideas, measured, cut, sanded and assembled the picnic table, learning that a great result comes from communication, teamwork, patience and taking responsibility for your part of the job. There was no refurbishment here — this was built collaboratively by our Young People, and they should be proud of what they achieved! 💪🔨

We also picked up a donated goat feeder from some generous people in Londonderry and continued getting stuck into the practical side of the RuffTRACK Program. Each task brings a chance to learn that accountability isn’t about being perfect — it’s about owning your choices, following through and being willing to share your knowledge and learn from what happens next.

At RuffTRACK, we don’t just talk about taking ownership and building Resilience — we get out there and have a crack at it! 🐾

🐾🏁 THE RUFFTRACK DACHSHUND OPEN DAY IS COMING! 🏁🐾

Get ready for one BIG day of tiny legs, big personalities and plenty of fun! 🌭🐶

📅 Sunday 13th September
⏰ 10:00am – 1:00pm
📍 Richmond Greyhound Track
312 Londonderry Road, Londonderry

🚨 IMPORTANT: Entry is via the entrance behind the vet and stockfeed shop, into the undercover area.

🎟️ ENTRY: $3 PER PERSON
Your entry includes a sausage sandwich + drink! 🌭🥤

🏁 DACHSHUND RACING
• Gates & entry open at 10:00am
• First race registration starts at 10:15am and starting at 10:30 running every 15 mins.
• Maximum 10 Dachshunds per race
• $3 per dog, per race
• Every race winner takes home a PRIZE! 🏆🐾

🚨 DACHSHUNDS ONLY!
This is a special Dachshund-only event, so unfortunately no other breeds will be allowed to enter the event. 🌭🐾

But it’s not just about the racing…

❤️ This Open Day is a wonderful opportunity to showcase RuffTRACK, bring our community together and give our young people the chance to get out into the community, develop their skills, work at a real event and help raise much-needed funds for RuffTRACK program.

Huge day today and it’s only lunchtime!

We set out to Mt Druitt Public for our healing Paws session proudly sponsored by Department of Planning and infrastructure under the companion animals welfare and rehoming grant program.

Our young people were so patient and all the kids loved seeing and patting the dogs and asking questions about them.

We also got pricing on our dachshund merch we will be selling at our event coming up.

Young Avarla cooked up a storm with pesto chicken pasta and garlic bread for her mates.

Young people are creating community project picnic table and it’s nearly at the finishing line for someone who was kind to donate the materials and asked us to build for her cabin accomodation in the hunter valley! This is huge!!!

We are so excited about this project and this might be an ongoing venture that we will selling online in the future!

🎉 TERM 4 REFERRALS ARE NOW FULL! 🐾❤️

We are incredibly excited to share that RuffTRACK has officially reached capacity for referrals for Term 4! 🙌

A huge thank you to all the families, schools, caseworkers and services who continue to put their trust in RuffTRACK and our team. It means so much to us to be able to support more young people through our programs. 🧡

Over the next couple of weeks, we can’t wait to welcome our new young people and their families for their tours, show them around the farm, introduce them to our amazing working dogs and give them a glimpse into what RuffTRACK is all about! 🐕🌾

Week 5– Looking Back, Moving Forward 🐾

RuffTRACK has been around for a number of years as we provide opportunities for Young People to wrestle with life’s challenges, discover their strengths, build resilience and develop the skills and confidence they need to navigate their journey.

Another week at RuffTRACK has reminded us that growth often happens in the small moments.
At RuffTRACK, we often use the analogy of being on the bus looking through the small rearview mirror and then through the big windscreen with our Young People. They continue to learn that while the small rear-view mirror helps us reflect on where we’ve been and things we’ve passed, the much bigger windscreen represents the opportunities and choices ahead. Our past can teach us, but it doesn’t have to define who and what they become.

This week, we were fortunate to welcome Lisa from APM Employment Services, whose visit complemented our Potential Pathways Program, helping our Young People explore future opportunities, employment pathway supports and what life beyond RuffTRACK can look like.

We can also say that Darcy got his L’s this week so we are extremely proud of him.

Through our RuffTRACK village and programs — including CORE, Round Yard and Paws for Well-Being, our Young People continue to build our four pillars of Generosity, Independence, Mastery and Belonging. A special highlight was our visit to Fitzgerald Nursing Home, where our Young People and their dogs shared connection, kindness and plenty of smiles with residents.

Another highlight was connecting with Richmond Jump Club through generosity with our Lawn Lads and Lasses Social Enterprise. These experiences remind us that generosity and belonging go both ways. We are incredibly proud of our Young People as they continue to step outside their comfort zones, support one another, build their skills and discover what they are truly capable of — one choice, one challenge and one day at a time.

Mastery- creating a design and building that design. Coops and Taylor worked on the 3d printing machine today and came up with a fidget dachshund for our event coming up to sell.

Looking back, learning, moving forward, growing together.

💪 RuffTRACK Young People Giving Back!
Today our amazing RuffTRACK young people headed over to help our friends at the Richmond Jump Club get their fences cleaned up and looking their best ahead of an upcoming event! 🐎
It’s days like this that remind us how much our young people have to offer when given the opportunity to get out, work as a team and contribute to our local community.

Generosity is a huge part of what we teach at RuffTRACK. We believe our young people should not only receive support — they should also have the opportunity to give back, help others and make a difference in their community.

Whether it’s helping a local organisation, lending a hand to someone who needs it, sharing their skills or simply giving their time, these experiences teach our young people that generosity isn’t just about money. It’s about giving your time, effort, respect and kindness.

Thankyou to our incredible team for making this happen and thankyou for allowing us to help out!

We have a little venue update for everyone! 🧡🖤

Our RuffTRACK Dachshund Open Day has now moved just down the road from the RuffTRACK farm to:

⚠️ Please note: The event is NO LONGER being held at the RuffTRACK farm.
The good news is there is PLENTY of parking available at the new venue, making it nice and easy for everyone to come along and enjoy the day! 🚗🐶

We’re still bringing you all the fun of dachshund racing, food, stalls, family fun and plenty of sausage-shaped cuteness! 🐾🏁❤️
