Have you ever felt that your dreams seemed distant, the promises seem silent, and every circumstance appears to move in the wrong direction?!
We'll have you ever read Joseph's story in Genesis 37-50? Most usually read it as a story of betrayal, suffering and forgiveness.
But there is far more at play here, more than Joseph's betrayal by his own brothers, more than the silver he was sold for, more than being taken far from home, more than falsely being accused and forgotten in prison! All while Joseph was suffering, something much larger was unfolding- A famine was approaching and not merely a local shortage or a difficult season for one family. It would be a crisis that would affect the entire nations, including Jospeh's own family.
When Joseph finally reveals his identity to his brothers when they come in need, he says something remarkable twice to them: Genesis 45:5, "But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life." & Genesis 45:8, "So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt."
Joseph here is seeing something beyond the actions of men... He sees the providence of God. The provision began years earlier, long before anyone recognized the need!
This is one of the profound truths of Scripture. God's provision is often working before we even know we need it, and we only recognize the provision when the answer appears!
Many of us are praying about needs we can already see- Financial burdens, family concerns, uncertain futures, closed doors and unexpected problems. But one of the greatest comforts of God's providence is that He see's our tomorrow before we do and He prepares provisions before the crisis arrives. And God is already working in places we cannot see yet.
So this is your reminder that what feels like an obstacle today may become the very means by which God provides your tomorrow with. Keep seeking and praying people π
