Multicultural Youth Queensland (MYQ) is the Multicultural Youth peak body of Queensland, supporting and advocating, for young people from multicultural backgrounds. MYQ's Goals are to ensure that:

- The particular needs of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds are recognised in both the government and non-government sectors, in policy and service delivery.

- There is a coherent and

nationally consistent approach to addressing these needs in policy and service delivery.

- Wherever young people settle in Australia, they are able to access targeted, multicultural youth-specialist support. Our work involves:

- Provide advice to the Local, State and Federal government on multicultural youth issues, through policy papers, representation on advisory bodies, etc.

- Promote the needs and issues facing young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds in the broader youth and settlement sectors through policy and sector development work.

- Support the development of infrastructure at the local and regional level to promote and build a multicultural youth-specialist approach.

If you’re 18–30 and creating positive change in your community, we want to hear from you. The 2026 Youth Matters Conference is calling for Expressions of Interest from young people who want to showcase their work, share their ideas and connect with other emerging leaders from across Queensland. Taking place on Friday 17 April at the Queensland Multicultural Centre in Kangaroo Point, Youth Matters is a space to amplify lived experience, celebrate youth leadership and grow youth-led initiatives. If you’ve started something, built something, led something or are shaping change in your community - this is your platform. Submit your Expression of Interest here: https://events.humanitix.com/2026-youth-matters-conference
