Today we're throwing the spotlight on Bernadette Savage, an inspiring example of an emerging group of women who are getting their hands dirty and converting their petrol vehicles to electric, in the name of sustainability.

Bernadette is converting a classic Honda S800 1966 convertible under the mentorship of Graeme Manietta who was part of the City Transformation team’s Innov8 Logan ‘Meet The Innovators’ event last year at his OZ-DIY Electric Vehicles workshop.

While Bernadette received an offer from an international buyer for her classic Honda (who was willing to ship it overseas in pieces!), she decided on a more fulfilling route: to build it into an electric vehicle so that it could live on into the future.

“If you want to be part of the future, then have a go and convert your car into an EV,” she said.

“There is plenty of help and support available and if you reach out to the EV community you will find it.”

Thanks for inspiring us on International Women's Day Bernie!

One of our biggest highlights of 2022 so far has been taking part in the Social Enterprise World Forum held at the Brisbane Convention Centre last month.

From the Logan Social Enterprise Bus Tour which showcased some of the incredible social entrepreneurs we have in the city including Substation33, PowerWells and Spirit of the Red Sands among so many more, to attending the SEWF Forum and meeting delegates from all over the world, it was incredible to connect and discuss future collaborations to support the social innovation ecosystem in Logan.

We would especially like to thank The Centre For Women & Co. who sponsored 10 Logan students and members of the Logan Youth Action Group to attend the SEWF youth forum and build up the next generation of local social enterprises. See some highlights of this great event below!

Electric cars are a hot topic now, with more and more people interested in driving them – but when Graeme Manietta first opened Oz DIY Electric Vehicles, it was a different story. He opened his Springwood businessin 2008 – despite plenty of naysayers – and, ever since, has been helping drivers...
