Another busy fortnight at Heartprint with plenty happening across our programs!

🎹 Thanks to a generous donation from the Rotary Club of Logan during our Australian visit, we purchased four new keyboards and a piano. Just in time for Open Day and ready for our budding musicians to enjoy.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ Haven interviews are underway for the next intake of hospitality trainees. We recently accompanied one of our Heartprint young people to her interview and have everything crossed. We've seen so many of our children build successful careers through Haven's training program and hope she'll be next.

πŸ›‘οΈ Our Wellbeing Officer and Community Outreach Officer teamed up to deliver a Stranger Danger workshop. With recent rumours of abductions in local schools, we wanted to ensure our children know how to keep themselves safe and what to do in difficult situations.

🏠 No sooner had the build crew handed over Houses 144 and 145 than they started work on House 146. This is a very special build for one of our own. After 10 years with Heartprint, our Hospitality Trainer and Head Cook, Mao, will finally have a home of her own. This project is possible thanks to a donation from East Maitland Rotary. We can't wait to share the journey.

🚲 Our monthly bicycle donation was also handed out thanks to the ongoing generosity of Lynn Koh, helping another student travel to school safely and reliably.

πŸ‘Ά Pheap was on hand to deliver two baby baskets to expecting mums, making sure they have the essentials needed for their new arrivals.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Heartprint. Every donation, fundraiser, and act of kindness helps create opportunities and brighter futures for our community. πŸ’›

πŸŽ‰ Happy Birthday Kathryn! πŸŽ‰

Today we celebrate one of the amazing people who helps make the Rotary Club of Logan what it is.

Kathryn is always there behind the scenes, keeping us organised, supporting our projects and helping ensure things happen when they need to. Her dedication to Rotary, her willingness to serve and her friendship are appreciated more than she probably realises.

Wishing you a wonderful birthday and a year ahead filled with happiness, good health and many reasons to smile.

Thank you for all that you do for our club and community.

πŸ’™πŸ’› Happy Birthday Kathryn!

What a wonderful evening celebrating the Pride of Workmanship Awards 2026, hosted by the Rotary Club of Beenleigh on behalf of the Rotary Clubs of the City of Logan.

The Pride of Workmanship Awards recognise people who quietly make a difference every day through their dedication, professionalism, service and commitment to others. It was an honour to celebrate so many deserving nominees and recipients from across our community.

This year's awards also recognised a number of outstanding First Responders who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in service to our community. Representatives from the Queensland Ambulance Service, Queensland Fire Department, Queensland Police Service and, for the first time, our Police Liaison Officers were recognised for their dedication, commitment and service.

We also celebrated a quiet achiever from Logan City Council whose leadership, initiative and willingness to step forward during severe weather events and challenging situations helped support our community when it needed it most.

It was also a pleasure to welcome Tammy Robinson OAM, who had only days earlier been recognised in the King's Birthday Honours.

The Rotary Club of Logan was proud to recognise four outstanding individuals:

πŸ† Cassandra Dohm – Customer Service Award
Cassie is the friendly face that welcomes patients to Myhealth Doctors at Grand Plaza. Her warmth, kindness and ability to make people feel comfortable during what can often be a stressful visit has made a lasting impression on countless patients and colleagues.

πŸ† Jolie Keza – Trainee of the Year
After completing her Hospitality traineeship through MultiLink, Jolie has gone on to build a successful career while inspiring others through her resilience, determination and positive outlook. Today she works at Carinity Education Southside, supporting young women in an alternative learning environment.

πŸ† Finn Wilmot – Apprentice of the Year
A second-year Refrigeration and Air Conditioning apprentice with Air Control Pty Ltd, Finn has earned recognition for his strong work ethic, willingness to learn and positive attitude. His supervisor describes him as a valued and trusted member of the team who gives everything a go.

πŸ† Terry Chapman – Community Service Award
Terry has dedicated more than 50 years of service through what was originally Civil Defence and is now the SES. Remarkably, he contributed more than 860 volunteer hours in the past year alone. Unfortunately, Terry was unable to attend the evening, with Jane Gibson accepting the award on his behalf.

A sincere thank you to the Rotary Club of Beenleigh for hosting another outstanding event, to Club Beenleigh for their hospitality, and to all nominees, employers, families and supporters who joined us to celebrate.

Congratulations to all award recipients across the City of Logan. Your service, commitment and contribution help make our community stronger.

We look forward to continuing this proud tradition in 2027, when the Rotary Club of Logan will have the privilege of hosting the Pride of Workmanship Awards on behalf of the Rotary Clubs of the City of Logan.

πŸ’™πŸ’› Service Above Self

Rotary in action πŸ’™πŸ’›

While many people see the finished projects, they don't always see the work that happens behind the scenes.

Today, members of the Rotary Club of Logan spent time preparing and branding shelter bags that will soon be distributed through organisations supporting people sleeping rough in our community.

Every bag represents more than just practical assistance. It represents people who care, volunteers who give their time, and a community that refuses to look away when others are doing it tough.

Sometimes making a difference looks like planning meetings and fundraising. Sometimes it looks like a few Rotarians in a warehouse with a stencil and a pile of shelter bags.

And afterwards? We shared a meal, a few laughs and some fellowship. Because all work and no play makes for unhappy Rotarians!

Service brings us together, but friendship keeps us coming back.

If making a difference in your community sounds like something you'd like to be part of, we'd love to meet you. Join us on a Tuesday evening at Diggers Services Club, Logan Central, or come and say hello at our monthly Bunnings BBQ. You might just find your people.

Today, we had the privilege of meeting one of the nominees for the Trainee of the Year category for the 2026 Pride of Workmanship Awards hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Beenleigh, Logan and Loganholme πŸ’™πŸ’›

Jolie Keza shared her incredible story of resilience β€” from the difficult journey of having to leave Congo, to rebuilding her life here in Australia, successfully completing her Hospitality Traineeship with MultiLink Community Services, and now working at Carinity College, an alternative education setting supporting vulnerable and disengaged young women, where she helps run the school kitchen.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Jolie’s daughters, who were clearly very proud of their Mum and all that she has achieved ❀️

Also joining us was Pete Hutton from MultiLink Community Services, who shared about the important work MultiLink continues to do in supporting and empowering members of our community through training, opportunity and connection.

It was a powerful reminder that behind every award nomination is a story of courage, persistence and people who chose not to give up.

Our club was honoured to present certificates to our guests acknowledging that, in appreciation of their time with us, the Rotary Club of Logan will sponsor enough funding through Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign to vaccinate a total of 800 children against polio 🌏

Last night, the Rotary Club of Logan had the privilege of welcoming Wendy O’Brien, Caitlin West and Bor Srey Pheap from HeartPrint Cambodia for a truly inspiring evening of storytelling, compassion and impact What began as a visit to a poverty-stricken community beside one of the world’s most beautiful landscapes became a promise to return and make a difference.Through a β€œhand up, not hand out” approach, HeartPrint has transformed the lives of entire families by improving housing, education, nutrition, life skills and opportunities for future generations. As of yesterday, HeartPrint has now delivered an incredible 144 homes to families in need β€” including the home funded by the Rotary Club of Logan in early 2020 Over the years, our club has proudly supported HeartPrint through contributions towards sewing machines, coffee equipment, construction support and, more recently, their music program β€” practical support helping create long-term change within communities. What started with a few sewing machines and a coffee machine has now grown into something far bigger: training opportunities, community connection, employment pathways and hope for families wanting a brighter future.A special thank you also to Tony Skyes from the Rotary Club of Beenleigh for pledging further support towards the incredible work HeartPrint continues to deliver. In appreciation for Wendy, Caitlin and Bor Srey Pheap sharing their time and story with us, the Rotary Club of Logan will also be contributing towards the vaccination of 800 children against polio through Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign Thank you for reminding us that even small acts of kindness, when done consistently and with heart, can change lives across generations.
