Special appreciation to Professor Dr G.M. Shafiullah, a proud CUETian, current Vice-President of the CUETians in Australia EC and Professor at Murdoch University, for his valuable contribution towards the proposed CUET–Murdoch University MoU and for serving as the speaker at the seminar on Energy Sustainability and Industrial Transformation.

It is particularly encouraging to see CUET’s growing academic connections with Australia. CUET has already signed an MoU with Adelaide University, and with the proposed Murdoch University MoU, CUET will have two Australian university partners. This will create further opportunities for research, education, student exchange, and academic collaboration.

Another meaningful example of CUETians in Australia giving back to their alma mater. ❤️

The Australian Dream: A Reality Check for Bangladeshi Students and Engineers.

Many Bangladeshi students, particularly engineering graduates from various universities, come to Australia with the dream of building a better future and integrating into Australian society in a profession that matches their qualifications.

There is nothing wrong with that dream. Australia remains one of the world's most attractive countries, offering a high standard of living, a strong democratic system, quality healthcare, social security, safety, and excellent opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Australia's economy is heavily service-based and relies significantly on skilled and unskilled migrants. While the country is rich in natural resources, it faces ongoing workforce shortages across many sectors.

There are several pathways to enter Australia, including student visas and permanent residency visas. Other visa categories generally do not provide full work rights.

If your goal is to work here, become a citizen, access Australia's healthcare system, benefit from childcare and aged care services, receive social support when eligible, or access public education opportunities, you must follow the immigration pathways established by the Australian government.

Without the appropriate immigration status, it becomes difficult to work freely and build a stable future. This is why thorough research and planning are essential before making the move.

Unfortunately, many Bangladeshi students rush into studying courses that may not align with Australia's skilled migration pathways or labour market needs. As a result, some struggle to secure employment in their field of qualification and are forced to take jobs unrelated to their professional background.

At the same time, Australia's high cost of living, housing expenses, and financial pressures can create additional challenges.

I have also seen people portray a glamorous lifestyle on social media while privately dealing with debt, financial stress, and family expectations. Social media often tells only part of the story.

Many of these challenges can be minimised through careful planning and informed decision-making. If permanent residency is your long-term goal, understand the available pathways before committing significant time and money. Strategic choices made early can save years of frustration later.

The Australian dream is achievable, but it requires realistic expectations, proper preparation, and a clear understanding of the immigration system.
Higher education in Australia is not free even for Australians. Be wise before committing to such amount to receive education in Australia .

Re: Campaign to collect CUET Scholarship 2026

Dear CUETians in Australia,

We hope you are all doing well.

As many of you are aware, we have started collecting funds to support current CUET students through our Scholarship Program, including dining expenses and other forms of financial assistance for students pursuing their BSc studies at CUET.

So far, around 20 CUETians have generously contributed to this noble initiative through donations to the nominated “CUETians in Australia” account. We sincerely appreciate every contribution and the kindness shown towards our junior CUETians.

We strongly believe that if this message reaches more members of our CUET community, this support can grow 10 times or even more. Even a small contribution can make a meaningful difference in helping a student continue their journey toward becoming an engineer.

There is no fixed donation amount. Please contribute whatever you can from your heart to support the next generation of CUETians.
