Our AGM was held on 4 May 2026 and we have some members saying goodbye, some members staying, and some new ones joining our team.

We say goodbye to Nerissa Schache, Tracy Juers and Sam Hocking. We would like to thank them for all their hard work, and wish them all the best as they take a well earned break.

This year we welcome to the Committee -

who, between them and individually, bring an incredible amount of knowledge and expertise to the team. We are looking forward to their new ideas, which will make the 2026 Pageant an absolute delight for everyone.

WINNERS OF THE PAGEANT FLOAT COMPETITION FOR 2025!

Our judges Rebekha Sharkie MP, Dan Cregan MP and Lobethal identity Mrs Sue Hughes found the task of judging the floats very difficult, because each float looked terrific. It was extremely close, and on a countback of points, we are pleased to announce the follow winners of each category:

The 2025 pageant was an absolutely outstanding success, and we have heard nothing but glowing reviews. This year we had a lot more time to prepare, and we need to say a massive thank you to our major sponsors

whose contribution ensured we could produce your community pageant to a very high standard.

The live streaming was severely interrupted by the local Telstra tower not being able to deliver the required service, for reasons that are unknown. Traders in the town were impacted as well, but hopefully that will be rectified before next year. It was out first attempt for live streaming, and we will definitely make improvements for next year.

We had a viewer from the French Alps trying to watch, which means the 23 December Lobethal Pageant has a global following!

2025 Lobethal Christmas Pageant took place on December 23 at Lobethal, South Australia

It's here! Pageant Day! Today is the 61st time it's been held on the 23rd of December. Here is some important information.

5.30 pm
The following road closures to vehicles are enforced:
* Main Street between Mill Corner and Bridge Street until 9.30 pm.
* Main Street between Bridge Street and the Cudlee Creek intersection until approximately 8.30 pm.
* Woodside Road between Mill Corner and Ridge Rd Corner until approximately 8.30 pm;
* Jeffrey Street between Woodside Road and the Oval until approximately 8.30 pm.
All times are subject to the discretion of Traffic Control.

6.00 pm

2025 Brochures will be handed out by committee members Gus and Rylan, along with chalk for the customary pavement drawing. Brochures will also be available from the commentary and judging stand, opposite the Post Office. Look for the colouring-in competition inside the brochure.

7.00 pm
The Lobethal Harmony Club will be singing the National Anthem. This is followed by the cutting of the ribbon by next year's Hall of Fame Inductees, Lynn Rawlings, and Marcia Kleemann who is accepting this honour on behalf of her late husband, John Kleemann.
The procession starts from the top end of the Main Street as they make their way down the Main Street, turning left at Mill Corner and make their way down Jeffrey Street.
This is followed by a street party with lots of food, drinks and entertainment available to cater for everyone.

The committee would like to thank everyone that has helped make this iconic community event, your cherished pageant, the huge success that it is, and hope you all find it thoroughly enjoyable. Merry Christmas from all of us, to all of you.

The 23 December Lobethal Pageant would like to acknowledge the following local businesses, who have helped to bring the 2025 pageant to you this year. Each one of these local businesses have gone above and beyond expectations, to help your 23 December Lobethal Pageant, be the jewel in the crown for Lobethal. We would like to thank the following:

THE LOBETHAL BIERHAUS - This is the place to visit for great beer, meals and pizza. They will also have live music on the night of the pageant, so make sure to call in and visit them.

LOBETHAL HOTEL – Thank you to Travis Blundell for your outstanding support, sponsorship, and great meals. We must also thank Travis for organising the livestreaming of the pageant, so that everyone from all corners of the globe, can enjoy the magic, that only the 23 December Lobethal Pageant can bring.

LOBETHAL NEWSAGENCY – On Pageant night, if your children are enjoying covering our streets with amazing chalk drawings, then there is a good chance their enjoyment and amusement is courtesy of the NewsXpress Newsagency. Gabi has very generously supplied an abundance of chalk for the kids to create their masterpieces. The Newsagency will be open Pageant night. If you are looking for some Christmas present ideas or special gifts for your loved ones, then this is the place for some extra shopping.

CHAPTERS OF CARE - This year the Pageant has joined forces with The Chapters of Care Bookshop and Nursing clinic 20 Main Street, to bring Santa’s Cave to the Lobethal Pageant once again. We are excited and grateful to Amanda and Sarah for welcoming us, you and your children, to enjoy a visit with Santa on Pageant night. Santa will be available from 5:30pm until 7pm, and then after the pageant has finished when he returns until 9pm. Please come and visit, and have a look around. You can also find some convenient sweet or savoury grazing boxes, Nachos or BBQ to satisfy your pageant appetite as well. Thank you ladies. Your enthusiasm, kindness and support is very much appreciated

THE VALLEY OF PRAISE RETIREMENT VILLAGE - Thank you to everyone there for providing HUMPHREY B BEAR a place to eat, drink and rest. The Retirement Village also provide an assortment of food that is truly delicious. Inside they also have craft and gifts to purchase. A great place to wander around and do some shopping.

LOBETHAL SERVICE CENTRE - A special thanks to Craig from the Lobethal Service Centre. He is always happy to lend his prime real estate, so we can always bring something extra special for the children (and big kids) of Lobethal. This year the Service Centre will be hosting the one and only HUMPHREY B BEAR. Thanks Craig, looks like there will be lots to see and experience Pageant night.

GUMERACHA MEDICAL PRACTICE - This year we have located the majority of the food vans in one handy location, 60 Main Street with the space donated by the Gumeracha Medical Centre. There will be a variety of food stalls and entertainment, located in the rear carpark, on the site that will become a fantastic new medical clinic for the Lobethal Community. Plans for this new facility will be available for you to view, in the food court on Pageant night.

This year, the Lobethal Pageant will be live streamed.
This will allow anyone who has a smart TV, to watch the whole pageant from the comfort of their own home. This will suit the sick, the elderly, and anyone who is house bound for any reason, or can't get home to Lobethal for Christmas, to be part of the community and enjoy the Pageant. Thank you to Travis at the Lobethal Hotel, for organising this for us.

HALL OF FAME FOR 2025

We are delighted to announce that MR KEVIN KLEEMANN OAM
is our Hall of Fame Inductee for 2025. Kevin has earned the honour of the
Order of Australian Merit for his services to the Adelaide Hills Community.

He has been a member of the Onkaparinga Lions Club for 49 years, serving as President, Fundraising Chairman, and History Officer. Kevin has received Lions Club Awards including the Melvin Jones Fellow (Lions International) presented at the Australia Day Civic Award.

Kevin has been Chair of the Lights of Lobethal for many years, Lobethal Recreation supporter, Lobethal Foodball Club Patron, Lobethal Cemetery Curator for 50 years, Member of the Liberal Party, Woodside Commerce Group member, Chairperson of the Lutheran Church at Woodside for four years, on the Stewardship Committee for many years including serving as Chairperson, and supported the Lobethal Soapbox Derbies. Kevin has been a Funeral Director for 75 years, is very well known throughout the hills, and is worthy of every award that he has received.

23 December Lobethal Pageant Inc is very proud to induct Kevin Kleemann OAM into the 23 December Lobethal Pageant Hall of Fame. His name now appears on the monument in the gardens of the Valley of Praise Retirement Village. Generations for years to come will be aware of the huge contribution that Kevin has made to his community.
