Western Sydney’s beloved LGBTQIA+ radio presenter, Beverly Buttercup, is stepping down as a presenter on 89.3 FM after nearly 30 years.

To everyone who has sent messages, called, commented and shared their memories.

I want to take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank you to everybody who has contributed to any of our LGBTQIA+ community radio programs over the past 26 years — Q***r Out West, Q***r Radio, Pride Radio and CampAIR on 89.3FM 2GLF.

Over those years, so many amazing people have volunteered their time, appeared as special guests, contributed stories, shared their music, called into the programs or simply supported what we were doing.

Every single person who has been part of these programs has helped create a very special part of Western Sydney’s LGBTQIA+ community history. 🏳️‍🌈💜

Moving forward, I would love to encourage people from the LGBTQIA+ community and the wider community across Western Sydney, Liverpool and Fairfield who have something to contribute to consider getting involved with 89.3FM 2GLF.

You don’t have to have a radio background.
You might have an idea for a program, a passion you’d like to share, music you love, a community organisation you’d like to promote, or simply something you think people would enjoy hearing about.

Anyone can put forward an idea for a program.

A small membership fee applies and training is provided.

Motorists are being reminded to take extra care on the roads this NSW Labour Day long weekend, with double demerit points in force across New South Wales from 12:00am Friday 2 October until 11:59pm Monday 5 October 2026.
Double demerit points apply to offences involving:
-Speeding.
-Illegal mobile phone use.
-Not wearing a seatbelt or incorrectly wearing a seatbelt.
-Riding a motorcycle without an approved helmet.
During this period, drivers caught committing these offences will receive double the usual demerit points.
