Over the next few weeks, you'll see our members out checking fire hydrants around the area to make sure they're accessible and ready to go when they're needed.
If there's a hydrant near your home, have a quick look and make sure it's not blocked by a car, bin, vegetation or anything else that could make it difficult to access.
It might not seem important on an ordinary day, but when we need water quickly, every second counts.

A little bit of rain, a little bit of sunshine and our gardens are beginning to grow. Yours too?

With another sunny weekend ahead, garden clean-up is on our list of chores — and there's a good reason for getting stuck into it now.

As spring growth picks up and the days get warmer, the grass and vegetation around our properties will become fuel for fire. Clearing up leaves and debris, keeping grass under control and cutting back vegetation around the house are simple things we can do now to make our properties safer before summer.

We don't know what the coming fire season will bring, but we do know that getting prepared early is better than trying to catch up when the weather heats up.

So if you're heading into the garden this weekend, you're not alone. We'll be out there too.

Today our members joined brigades from across the Mitchell Group for a training activity at Sarsfield Recreation Reserve.

This kind of training is about more than knowing how to operate our truck — it’s about building the teamwork and confidence we rely on when things get busy. And this summer looks likely to be busy.

A big thank you to everyone involved in organising today’s activity and making it such a valuable day.

And if standing around talking about fire trucks, getting your hands dirty and learning some pretty useful skills sounds like your kind of Sunday, we’re always looking for new volunteers. 🚒

Come and have a chat with us — there’s a place for you at Lindenow CFA.

Last night's incident was a great example of emergency services working together.

A big thank you to our colleagues from AV, VicPol, VicTrack and the towing crew for their professionalism and teamwork during a lengthy scene and clean-up.

📱 Don’t panic — it’s only a test
You may receive a test emergency alert on your mobile phone as part of the national trial of the new AusAlert system.

The Victorian test will take place on:
📅 Monday 27 July 2026
⏰ 2:00pm AEST

If you receive the alert, there is nothing you need to do — it is only testing the system. But in an actual disaster an AusAlert will let you know the type of emeregncy, where its located erious it is and how to respond.

The alert may appear on compatible mobile phones, tablets and smart watches. It is not a text message and will appear as a notification on your device. It will also make a loud siren-like sound, even if your phone is on silent or do not disturb, so don’t be alarmed if you hear it.

AusAlert is being developed to provide emergency information during events such as bushfires, floods and other disasters, helping communities understand what is happening and what actions they need to take.

It should go without saying, if you receive the test while driving, wait until it is safe to check the message.

Tonight we had our friends from Ambulance Victoria come along for a show and tell, explaining how we can assist them at incidents, with passing early information on once we are on scene and also assist them in other ways if required.
Along with our members we welcomed members from Flaggy Creek Brigade, Hillside Fire Brigade & Meerlieu Rural Fire Brigade.
These training sessions make it alot easier when working together at an incident.

If a major emergency affected Lindenow, would we be ready?

Bushfire, flood and severe weather can all impact our community. That's why we're encouraging everyone to take part in an upcoming Community Emergency Management Planning Workshop.

This practical half-day workshop is an opportunity to share your local knowledge, identify the risks that matter most, and help develop a plan for how we'll prepare, communicate and support each other during emergencies. After all, nobody knows our community better than the people who live here.
