Your skills could help shape her future.

Every volunteer brings something different to Girl Guides… Creativity, leadership, organisation, adventure, problem-solving, kindness, encouragement, or simply a willingness to help girls believe in themselves.

The skills you already have can make a real difference in the lives of girls and young women.

And volunteering gives back too. New friendships, meaningful experience, personal growth, and the chance to be part of something bigger than yourself or some of the reasons our volunteers love what they do.

Big impact starts with one person saying ‘Yes!’ 🌟

At Girl Guides, volunteers help girls and young women grow in confidence, take on challenges, build friendships and discover their potential – and it all starts with people willing to show up and make a difference.

You don’t need to have all the answers or endless free time to volunteer. Sometimes, the smallest moments of encouragement can leave the biggest impact. ☀️🌈✨

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, this could be your sign to start the conversation. Because big impact really does start with you.

National Volunteer Week is here, and we’re celebrating the incredible volunteers who make Girl Guides possible. 💙

Every week our volunteers show up with kindness, creativity, encouragement, and heart — helping girls and young women build confidence, make lifelong friendships, and discover what they’re capable of.

This year’s theme, “Your Year to Volunteer”, is a reminder that one decision to get involved can make a lifelong difference for a girl finding her place in the world.

To our amazing Leadership team at Auburn - Lidcombe Girl Guides: Alisha Scott Ruth Miller Tara Cordina and Jane thank you for the time, care, and passion you give so generously. This week is all about celebrating you and the impact you make every single day. 🫶🫶

💐 Happy Mother’s Day to our incredible Guide Mums! 💐
Behind every thriving Guide… is a mum who’s doing a lot more than she lets on 😅
To the mums who:
💙 Drop off, pick up, and somehow always end up helping out “just for a minute” (which turns into the whole night!)
💙 Put their hand up at events, BBQs, camps and fundraisers — because they know it makes it all possible
💙 Quietly cover the costs so their girls can go on camps, adventures and make the best memories
💙 Wash muddy clothes, unpack bags that were “definitely clean,” and tackle the post-camp chaos like champions
💙 Go to bed with campfire songs stuck in their heads… “I’ll think I’ll go eat worms…” on repeat 🎶😂
And a very special shoutout to our Leader Mums — the ones juggling everyone else’s daughters while still being there for their own 💫
Plus their incredible girls, who are:
✨ First to arrive
✨ Last to leave
✨ Experts at waiting patiently while mum packs up, finishes conversations, and does “one last thing”

You are the quiet heroes behind the scenes, the loudest cheerleaders, and the reason Guiding feels like home for so many 💙
We see you, we appreciate you, and today we celebrate you.
Happy Mother’s Day 🌸

😂 A Quick Guide to Guiding at Any Age 😂

Some people think Guiding is something you do when you’re young.

But anyone who’s been around for a while knows that’s… not quite how it works.

Because Guiding has a strange habit of following you through life.

It usually starts something like this:

🌈 Age 5–10
You come for the games.
You stay for the crafts.
You accidentally learn loads of skills.

🧭 Teen years
You realise you can lead games, help younger members and do some pretty amazing things.

🙋‍♀️ Adult leader stage
You suddenly own a suspicious amount of craft supplies.
You can organise 20 children, three activities and a biscuit break with military precision.

You also regularly find things in your pockets when you get home such as:
• glue lids
• string
• random beads
• half a sticker sheet

✨ Later in life
You discover you still love the laughter, the friendships and the slightly chaotic fun.

So you stay involved through things like Trefoil Guild.

Because the truth is…

Guiding isn’t really something you grow out of.

It’s more something that quietly becomes part of who you are.

Also…

Once you’ve learned the correct way to toast a marshmallow, that knowledge is basically for life.

So yes - you absolutely can be involved in Guiding at any age.

Fair warning though:

You may develop strong opinions about biscuits, crafts, and the correct volume for campfire songs. 💙
