๐ In Loving Memory of Ahmed Abdullahi Mohamed (Brigato)
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the Somali Australian Community Association SACA- NSW, together with the wider Somali community across Australia, announces the sudden passing of our dear brother, elder, and leader, uncle Ahmed Abdullahi Mohamed (Brigato), a giant in our community, who returned to his Creator on 16th April 2026.
Ahmed was a man of immense service and humility. He served our community with distinction for decades as the Executive Director of HARDA- HORN OF AFRICA RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY and most recently as the Vice President of the Somali Council of NSW. His leadership was not defined by titles, but by impact and his impact was immeasurable.
To many, he was more than a leader - he was a mentor, a trusted advisor, a guiding light, an uncle, and a friend. His wisdom, calm presence, and unwavering kindness grounded us in moments of uncertainty. No matter the challenge, he met people with patience, dignity, and a genuine desire to help.
Brigato was a true pillar of the migrant community. For decades, he stood as a bridge between our people and the systems of this country, helping families navigate immigration, access healthcare, overcome legal challenges, and find their footing in a new land. He never turned away anyone in need.
Because of him, countless families built stable, hopeful futures in Australia.
Today, we do not just mourn a man, we mourn a legacy of service, compassion, and leadership that will be impossible to replace. His absence leaves a void that words cannot capture, but his legacy will live on in every life he touched, every family he supported, and every path he helped shape.
We ask Allah swt to grant him the highest level of paradise. May god grant his family, friends, and our entire community patience and strength during this incredibly difficult time.
Ahmedโs funeral details will be shared in due course.
Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
