Viva Leichhardt is a not-for-profit business alliance, and the official Leichhardt chamber of commerce, supported by the NSW Government Uptown Program and the Inner West Council.

ANDIAMO! 🇮🇹

The best way to truly experience Little Italy is to get out and explore it.

While the sun is out, Little Italy locals flock to The Greenway. Walking the dog down to the off-lead area and grabbing a coffee at Cafe Bones. Having a hit of tennis or a run at lunch time. Taking a scenic route on a bike and following the canal as it spills out into the serenity of Iron Cove. Or simply meandering through the neighbourhood, finding something delicious from a deli or bakery and basking in the sunshine alongside one of Sydney’s great waterways.

Little Italy isn’t just somewhere to go for dinner. You can also walk, ride, play, stop and spend a little longer.

So let’s go Sydney! Andiamo a Leichhardt.

LA DOLCE VITA, THE LEICHHARDT WAY 🇮🇹

Sometimes, all it takes is turning a corner, to change your perspective, to slow down and find sanctuary in the city.

Step off Norton Street and into the The Italian Forum where juliet balconies rise above a wide open piazza, warm façades catch the afternoon light and, for a moment, Sydney feels a little further away.

Inspired by the piazzas of Italy, the Forum has become one of Leichhardt’s most recognisable landmarks, and a reminder of the Italian migrant story woven through the streets of Little Italy.

Look up, wander through and let yourself be transported. You’re still in Leichhardt, but sometimes, a little bit of Italy is closer than you think.

This October, one of Leichhardt’s biggest festivals celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Norton St Italian Festa Au 🇮🇹 first spilled out into Norton Street, Leichhardt in 1986, organised by the priests of St Fiacre’s Church, whose aim was to emulate the community festivals of Italy. Four decades later, it’s become one of Australia’s largest annual street festivals – and a very special part of Sydney’s Little Italy.

Join us on Norton Street on Sunday 25th October as we make make way for Italian food, cars, live entertainment, cooking demonstrations and family fun in the heart of Leichhardt.

Come to Little Italy and immerse yourself in a community celebration the Leichhardt way, but stay a while to visit our shops, trattorias, bars and theatres and experience how we celebrate Italian life and culture every day.

Save the date. 40 years of Festa, right where it belongs in Sydney’s Little Italy.

IT’S A BIG SPRING IN LITTLE ITALY 🇮🇹

Spring has arrived and Little Italy’s calendar is filling up. The Italian Film Festival returns to Norton Street, there’s jazz, Italian theatre and plenty happening around the neighbourhood. Plus, there’s a very big festival date to put in the diary. Check out what’s on in September. 👇

🎺 — The Jazz Room celebrates Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong on 12 September, bringing the music of two greats to Leichhardt for one night.

🎬 Palace Cinemas — The ST. ALi Italian Film Festival returns to Norton Street on 17 September, with contemporary Italian cinema, festival premieres and special screenings taking over the big screen until 14 October. Italian Film Festival

🎸 One Last Roar (SOLD OUT) — Leichhardt Oval gets one last big celebration on 19 September, with The Angels and The Superjesus headlining a free concert before redevelopment. Why not head into Little Italy on your way there?

🚌 Sydney Bus Museum— BUSFEST rolls on again in the Inner West on 20 September, with vintage buses, heritage rides and plenty for transport lovers to explore.

🎭 Co.As.It. — Lu Santo Jullàre Françesco arrives at the Italian Forum Cultural Centre on 23 September, bringing Italian theatre to Little Italy for one night, performed in Italian with English surtitles.

🍷 La Botte D'oro x ITALIAN FOOD RECIPES 🇮🇹🍝🎥 — Abruzzo takes over La Botte D’Oro on 24 September, with Gabriele and Vincenzo sharing the kitchen for a four-course dinner paired with four w**es from Collefrisio.

🇮🇹 SAVE THE DATE — Norton Street Italian Festa Norton St Italian Festa Au 🇮🇹 turns 40 this year. Festa will return on 25th October with the 40th anniversary and will bring one of Sydney’s biggest celebrations of Italian life and culture to Norton Street.

THE PANINO EDIT 🇮🇹🥪

Italian sandwiches are having a moment right now, but in Leichhardt, they’ve been making them since your mamma was a bambina.
