Joining the Rotary is not about adding a line to your CV or simply wearing a pin on your lapel. It is about rolling up your sleeves when the community needs you most.

We believe that real change requires more than just good intentions, it requires action. It is about waking up early for the Sunday market, raising funds for vital youth mental health research, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with people who are dedicated to making a tangible difference in our own backyard. and across the globe.

We don't just talk about building a better future; we show up and do the vital work every single week.

If you are looking for a community where your time and energy translate into real-world impact, we have a seat at the table for you.

Umbrellas aren't the only thing you need to prepare for wet weather.

Recently, we have seen the heartbreaking impact that severe weather can have on homes and local businesses in our community. While we cannot control unpredictable storms, we can take practical steps to protect the places we love and the livelihoods of our neighbours.

A little bit of preparation now can save a lot of heartache later. Before the next front rolls in, take some time to get your property winter-ready:

1️⃣ Clear the gutters: Ensure your gutters and downpipes are free of leaves and debris to prevent overflow and roof leaks.

2️⃣ Secure the outdoors: Tie down or store away loose garden furniture, umbrellas, and tools that could become dangerous in high winds.

3️⃣ Check from above: Do a visual check of your roof for any loose or cracked tiles that might need immediate repair.

4️⃣ Prepare an emergency kit: Keep torches, spare batteries, a first aid kit, and essential supplies easily accessible in case of a power outage.

Stay safe, look out for each other, and always be prepared!

We often underestimate the power of silence and overestimate the power of our own words. Sometimes, as much as it pains us, not saying anything is the safer option.

In a world that is constantly moving and talking, taking a step back to simply listen can be one of the most profound acts of leadership.

When we pause and embrace silence, we allow diverse perspectives to surface, we foster deeper understanding, and we give those who are often unheard the chance to speak.

True connection, empathy, and meaningful action almost always begin with the simple willingness to listen.

As the nights grow colder across Perth, it is crucial to spare a thought for those sleeping rough on our streets.

Something as simple as a clean, dry pair of socks is a rarity for people experiencing homelessness, and the health consequences can be severe. Without them, individuals are highly susceptible to debilitating conditions like trench foot. Once developed, this condition requires weeks of having feet cleaned, dried, and exposed to air to heal properly.

The most effective treatment is prevention.

Socks in the City is an incredible initiative working to provide fresh socks to those on the streets, aiming to prevent foot diseases that can quickly escalate from minor discomfort to life-threatening conditions.

You can directly support this cause and help keep our most vulnerable community members safe and warm this winter.

Through a powerful partnership between clubs in WA, Victoria, and Bali, alongside a Rotary Foundation global grant, the 'Plastic Free Bali' initiative is completely transforming local waste management in Bali.

This project goes far beyond just cleaning up beaches; it is about empowering local communities with sustainable, long-term solutions.

This is a perfect example of how our global Rotary network can create profound environmental and social change, one household at a time.
