Cash for Containers - Down Syndrome Association NT

Cash for Containers - Down Syndrome Association NT The Cash for Containers Scheme is a community based program which allows youth with disabilities to gain employability skills while servicing the community

We are seeking businesses and homes who would be prepared to donate their cans and bottles to a local not-for-profit organisation. We can pick up your containers from your business or home address and deliver them to young people who are learning the skills of recycling and need a constant supply of cans/bottles to keep their program running. The Down Syndrome Association NT has been operating in

Darwin for nearly thirty years providing support and information to families with children with Down syndrome. Our membership is strong and stable and developing opportunities in the work place environment has meant that we need to think creatively about raising funds and providing opportunities for meaningful engagement for young people with Down syndrome who have now left the school environment. The NT Government scheme of paying cash for recycling containers has created an opportunity for us to raise funds and raise awareness. More importantly this project has created three jobs for young people with disability. So what can you do?
- Send us an email expressing your interest in our Cash for Containers Scheme
- Our Coordinator will then visit to provide you with collection crates and dates for collection
- The team will clear your containers regularly and advise you of the next collection date
- You will receive our newsletter giving information on funds raised and the progress of our project
