Thanks for sharing Deloraine High School!

We loved seeing your Grade 8 students taking on our FEAST program with such enthusiasm!⭐️

This Giving Day, Thursday 18 June, OzHarvest has a goal; to provide three million meals for people doing it tough.

1 in 5 people in Australia are turned away from food relief every single month. The need has never been greater.

From now until midnight on 18 June, every dollar you donate will be matched by a group of generous donors, meaning $1 provides four meals. Double the impact, double the difference.

Whether it's $5 or $500, please help us get there.

Ronni Kahn, the amazing founder of OzHarvest, joined us in Tassie to kick off the week (how lucky are we!).

Alongside Minister Rebecca White, she visited a wonderful class from Deloraine High School today to see our amazing FEAST program in action! The program is now in its second year at the school ☺️

FEAST stands for Food Education and Sustainability Training. It’s a curriculum-aligned initiative run in 32% of Tasmanian schools, designed to teach primary and high school students about food waste prevention, healthy eating, and sustainability through hands-on classroom cooking 🧑‍🍳

Live in Hobart or Launceston? 📍
Looking for a meaningful way to give back? 🌟

Join the volunteer team at OzHarvest Tasmania and help rescue good food that would otherwise go to landfill, delivering it to people who need it most.

There are plenty of ways to get involved:
🍎 Food rescue – collect surplus food, help with loading and unloading, and deliver to local charities.
🥗 Kitchen and meals programs – help turn rescued food into nutritious meals for the community.
📚 Community engagement and events – support education programs, fundraising activities, and community initiatives.

Getting started is easy: submit your volunteer interest form, attend an induction session, and if you're 18 or over, you're ready to make an impact.

We're currently looking for volunteers in Hobart and Launceston. Whether you can give a few hours every now and then or a little more, every helping hand makes a difference 💛

Help fight food waste, support your community, and join an incredible team of volunteers via: https://www.ozharvest.org/volunteer/

Jo (pictured) is the Fruit & Veg Manager at Woolworths Claremont. She’s one of the many friendly faces we see regularly through our National Food Rescue Partner, Woolworths, on our daily food rescue runs 🛻

The Claremont team are on top of food waste management in-store, consistently providing us with food that is “perfectly fine to eat” - like the organic spring onion pictured in Jo’s crate. In their words, it’s far better going to people who need it than to landfill or animal feed, which is where it would have gone prior to our team collecting it.

Jo says, “Your team at OzHarvest do a fantastic job, and we’re just happy to help do our part.” ✨

Well done to Jo and the Claremont Woolies team - thanks for all you do! 💛

Louise* has relied on OzHarvest for years, not just for herself, but for the people in her community who have no one else. Elderly people living with dementia, without family nearby to help. She shows up for them, helping make sure they have meals they couldn't otherwise afford.

She has watched the queues grow. She has watched the faces change.

"It's not the cost of living," she says. "It's the cost of survival. For everybody."

From now until Giving Day, Thursday 18 June, every dollar you donate is matched, doubling your impact for Australians doing it tough.

People who were previously keeping their heads above water are now coming through our doors for the first time. People who were donating to causes like ours are now the ones asking for help.

The charities we support and people accessing food relief cannot be clearer: It’s not the cost of living anymore. It’s the cost of surviving.

But it’s not just people who are struggling. For the first time in our history, more charities are on the waitlist to receive food than the ones we currently support.

Swipe to hear from the voices of people we support.

From now until Giving Day, Thursday 18 June, every dollar you donate is matched, helping us feed more people in need.

There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work that goes into launching Food Rescue in a new city.

One of our biggest helping hands in Hobart has been Troy and the team at Tas Trucks, alongside Hino Australia. These legends not only help keep our trucks on the road in Tasmania, but also give us a Hobart home - a place to safely park and store our truck overnight when we’re not out rescuing produce and delivering it to people in need.

It takes a village to keep this work moving, and Troy, Tas Trucks and Hino are a huge part of ours. If you’re after a truck in Tassie, you know where to go 😉
