Working within our local communities and beyond, members carry out practical, hands-on projects that create a direct and immediate impact. Soroptimists transform the lives and status of women and girls through education,
empowerment and enabling opportunities. Soroptimists have made a difference in the lives of women and girls to reach their potential, unlocking economic empowerment, giving women

and girls employment and leadership opportunities. They advocate for social, political, legal and economic rights; and unify their
voice to advocate for governments at all levels to adhere to the laws and treaties they have signed. Soroptimist projects are at the local, to international levels. V I S I O N

🚨 SOS: We urgently need tampons 🚨

Our charity partners have requested over 80,000 tampons - with just days left of August Dignity Drive, we’ve only collected 21% percent.

That gap represents thousands of people who may be going without one of the most essential items to manage their period safely and with dignity.

We recently heard this story from Maria:

“When I was a young single mother I used to leave my tampons in until I leaked and would also fold layers of toilet paper when out in public to make it last even longer.”

No one should have to manage their period like this.

If you’re heading to Woolworths Supermarkets this weekend, please consider picking up an extra box of tampons and dropping them into one of our pink collection boxes 🩷

Every single box helps restore dignity, comfort and confidence for someone doing it tough.

🩷 Share the Dignity – August Drive 🩷

A huge thank you to everyone who helped us support the Share the Dignity August Drive this year!

Thanks to some very savvy half-price shopping (because we love making every donated dollar stretch further 🙌), SI Launceston was able to purchase and donate:

🩸 18 packets of tampons
🩸 62 packets of pads – ranging from teen through to maternity
💰 More than $200 worth of period products

Our wonderful Leanne dropped everything off to Salveo Healthcare in Cimitiere Street who are a collection point in Launceston.

Period products aren’t a luxury. No one should have to go without because they can’t afford them.

A small community effort that can make a very real difference. 💜

💛 Meet beautiful baby Eden. 💛

Eden was born prematurely and transferred to the Launceston General Hospital NICU. During her stay, her family received one of our Premmie Baby Care Packs and recently reached out to tell us just how much it meant to them.

The little blanket included in Eden’s pack became her comfort blanket throughout her hospital stay and the gift brought some extra comfort to her family during an incredibly emotional NICU journey. 🥹

Eden’s mum, Maddie, shared this beautiful message with us:

“Thank you so much for everything your organisation does for families like ours. Your generosity and kindness have meant more than you know.”

This is exactly why this project is so special to us.

Behind every care pack is a tiny baby, a family navigating an unexpected journey, and a reminder that sometimes the smallest gestures can bring enormous comfort. 💛

To everyone who has donated, fundraised, volunteered, supported our events or helped us continue this project - thank you.

This is what your support does.

And to Eden and her family, thank you for allowing us to share a little part of your story ❤️

Volunteering isn’t just about giving your time. It’s about creating change. 💙

Every community is stronger because someone chose to show up.

Volunteers are the people who organise events, mentor others, raise funds, advocate for those whose voices aren’t being heard, and quietly make a difference behind the scenes.

They don’t do it for recognition.
They do it because they care.

At Soroptimist International, our members are volunteers united by one shared purpose: improving the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment and action.

Whether it’s supporting local projects, advocating for gender equality, raising awareness of important issues, or connecting with like-minded women, every hour volunteered has a ripple effect that reaches far beyond what we can see.

You don’t need endless free time to make a difference. You just need the willingness to be part of something bigger than yourself.

✨ Volunteer your time.
✨ Share your skills.
✨ Find your purpose.
✨ Help create a better world for women and girls.

Because when women come together with a shared vision, incredible things happen.

Have you ever thought about volunteering with Soroptimist International Launceston?

We’d love to welcome you. Send us an email at [email protected] if interested or feel free to give this post a like or share to help us spread the word 💙💛

Today our State/Region meeting brought together members from clubs across Tasmania to share the projects and initiatives we have been working on in our communities.

These gatherings provide a valuable opportunity to learn from one another, identify areas for collaboration, and discuss opportunities for advocacy, education and awareness.

We explored a range of important issues affecting women and girls, including women’s health, with one of our members sharing her personal experience of a SCAD (Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection) heart attack and highlighting the need for greater awareness of this often-overlooked condition.

We also discussed the ongoing need for advocacy and action in the areas of domestic violence and sexual assault, recognising the vital role Soroptimists play in raising awareness, supporting services and advocating for meaningful change in our communities.

Thank you to all members who contributed to the discussions and continue to make a difference through their dedication and service.

President Natasha attended the Soroptimist International Australia AGM, Special Meeting & Business Meeting today.

With around 1,000 members across Australia, it was wonderful to see representation from every club around the country, with at least one member from each club attending.

While we may be separated by thousands of kilometres, days like today are a reminder that we are part of something much bigger - women working together to improve the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment and advocacy.

Ever thought:

“I’d love to meet new people.”
“I’d like to give back to my community.”
“I wish I could do something practical to help women and girls.”

Good news.

There’s a club for that.

We raise funds, support local projects, advocate for women, eat dinner, have a laugh and occasionally wear very fetching blue aprons.

If that sounds like your kind of people, come and join us. 💙💛

EDIT: we've had a lot of people reach out in response to this post. Please send us an email to [email protected] and we can send you more information about our delightful, small but mighty club! :)

Thank you to Jo Palmer MLC for joining us in our fundraising efforts over the weekend 💙💛
