๐Ÿ’› What a day.
๐Ÿ’™ What a community.
๐Ÿ’› What a High Tea.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Soroptimist International Launceston High Tea and helped make our biggest fundraiser of the year such a success.

Thank you to everyone who came along, bought raffle tickets, bid on auction items, bought balloons, connected with new people and fully embraced the spirit of the day.

And to those who arrived in elegant, fabulous, extravagant and downright hilarious hats - thank you for understanding the assignment ๐ŸŽฉ๐Ÿ˜‚ You absolutely brought the fun.

A special thank you to our small but mighty SI team. There was a huge amount of work happening behind the scenes and many hands quietly making the magic happen. Community events like this only happen because people generously give their time, energy and effort.

A very special thank you to Lindi, our club Patron, for doing an incredible job MCโ€™ing the event and keeping us all on track through the day.

And thank you to Mowbray Golf Club for generously allowing us to use your beautiful space. It is always the perfect venue to bring our community together for such a special afternoon.

Early estimates suggest we raised at least $5K for our Premmie Baby Project, supporting care packs for families of premature and tiny babies at the LGH ๐Ÿ’›

Not bad for an afternoon of tea, scones, hats and community.

How lucky were we to have Bridget Archer and Jo Palmer MLC join us for our fundraising efforts today! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Such a lovely afternoon attending the Soroptimist International High Tea alongside an inspiring group of women ๐Ÿ’›

I had the pleasure of sitting with two incredible social workers and two passionate politicians all women working in different ways to support and strengthen our community. Conversations like these always remind me how important connection, advocacy and women supporting women truly is.

I was also very grateful to donate an Initial Consultation + Follow Up treatment package from Woodlands Acupuncture + Herbal Health to help support the fundraising efforts.

Thank you for having me a beautiful event filled with kindness, conversation and community

We loved seeing moments like this at our High Tea โค๏ธ

A huge thank you to these incredible leaders for taking the time to join us and support our Soroptimist International Launceston fundraiser.

One of the loveliest parts of the day was seeing people from different backgrounds, professions and perspectives come together around the same tables - chatting, laughing and connecting over tea, scones and a shared desire to support our community.

In a world that can sometimes feel a little divided, it was a lovely reminder that we can sit together, work together and focus on the things that matter most.

Thank you for supporting local women, families and our Premmie Baby Project ๐Ÿ’›

What. A. Day.

๐Ÿ’› High Tea Thank You - Part 1 ๐Ÿ’›

Today was our biggest fundraiser of the year - our Soroptimist International Launceston High Tea - and what a beautiful day it was.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, bought raffle tickets, bid on auction items, purchased balloons, wore fabulous hats and supported the event. Your generosity and support means so much.

Weโ€™ll have plenty of photos to share soon (once we all recover and sort through them all ๐Ÿ“ธ), but before that we wanted to give a special thanks to some of our community leaders for supporting our event.

Soroptimist International Launceston was also incredibly proud to present the Dame Marjorie Parker Memorial Award last month to another inspiring young woman - Edie Burns ๐ŸŒธ
This award honours the legacy of Dame Marjorie Parker, a founding member and the first President of our Club, whose lifelong commitment to uplifting women and strengthening our local community continues to inspire the next generation of leaders.

Edie completed Year 12 at Launceston College in 2025 with an exceptional academic result, achieving an ATAR of 99.35 and placing as the runner-up Dux of the College. Impressively, all of Edieโ€™s Year 12 studies were in the Arts - an area in which she consistently demonstrates outstanding talent and dedication.

A gifted performer, Edie is both an accomplished actor and singer. She was selected from hundreds of auditions to perform a solo at the Australian Musical Theatre Festival, and delivered a standout performance as the Original Fairy Godmother in the College production of Once Upon a One More Time.

Edieโ€™s Art Studio Practice body of work was equally remarkable - exploring the beauty and resilience of the female body while drawing attention to the ongoing challenges faced in womenโ€™s health. Her installation examined how limited research, funding and persistent stigma continue to impact girls and women living with conditions such as endometriosis, PCOS and chronic menstrual disorders.

Motivated by witnessing friends navigate these conditions, Edieโ€™s work powerfully celebrated the strength of the female body while reflecting the shame that too often surrounds womenโ€™s health issues. She received the highest mark in the state for this subject and was awarded Launceston Collegeโ€™s most prestigious Art honour - the Phillip Wolfhagen Scholarship.

Beyond her creative achievements, Edie is known for her strong moral compass and commitment to social justice. She actively participates in community events focused on climate action and is a loyal and supportive member of her school community.

Edie is currently travelling through Europe - including rock climbing in Sicily and walking in Scotland - and plans to pursue tertiary study in Performing Arts.

Congratulations Edie - we canโ€™t wait to see where your passion and creativity take you next ๐Ÿ’œ
