Following the fantastic response to our first Women Who Lead event, we're heading to Burnie this October for a very special celebration of International Day of the Girl.

Join us for an inspiring panel conversation with three incredible women whose careers show just how many possibilities STEM can offer:

⭐ Kylie Lunson – engineering, infrastructure and local government leadership
⭐ Brittany Trubody – astrophysicist, historian, palaeontologist and STEM communicator

Together, we'll talk about career journeys, breaking down barriers, representation and why it matters for girls and young women to see women succeeding in the spaces they might one day want to enter themselves.

Great Southern Bioblitz Tasmania 2026 tip: BETTER PHOTOS = BETTER IDs 📸🌱
Spotted something interesting? 🍄
Before you move on, take another photo! 🤳🏼📸
When you're recording an observation for iNaturalist, a few simple tricks can make it much easier for someone to identify what you've found.
💠Get a clear shot — tap your screen to focus and try to fill the frame with your subject.
💠Take more than one photo — different angles can reveal important identifying features.
💠Capture the details — for a plant, try the flower, leaves, stem and whole plant. For fungi, photograph the top, side and underside. For insects and other small creatures, different angles can make all the difference.
💠Show the size — when it’s useful, include something for scale or add an approximate size in your notes.
💠Don't forget the surroundings — an extra photo showing where something is growing or living can provide useful context.
And remember — we're documenting nature, not disturbing it.

There's no need to pick up, handle or move something just to get the perfect photo.
Your photos don't need to be works of art. They just need to help show what you saw.
Better photos. Better IDs. Better observations. 👌🏼

The Great Southern Bioblitz is back! 🌿
From 27–30 November 2026, people across Tasmania will once again join thousands of others across the Southern Hemisphere to record the incredible diversity of life around us.
Whether you're an experienced naturalist or simply curious about the wildlife in your backyard, everyone is welcome.
Every observation contributes to a growing understanding of Tasmania's biodiversity.
All you need is the free iNaturalist.org app and a sense of curiosity.
Better still, you don't have to upload everything during the event—you'll have a further 14 days to upload and identify observations made during the BioBlitz.
Over the next 16 weeks we'll be sharing tips, species spotlights, habitat highlights and everything you need to get ready at Great Southern BioBlitz - TASMANIA
