NATURE TURNS UP EVERYWHERE! 🐸

No organised BioBlitz event near you? No problem!
You don't need to travel somewhere special to take part in the Great Southern BioBlitz 2026.
Sometimes nature comes looking for YOU!
Take this little visitor, for example — discovered in an outdoor basin! Not exactly where you'd expect to encounter wildlife, but a lovely reminder that biodiversity can turn up in the most ordinary places.
From 27–30 November 2026, people across Tasmania will be recording the living things they encounter and sharing their observations through iNaturalist.
And you can join in from almost anywhere!
🏡 Your own backyard or garden
🌳 A local park or reserve
🌾 Your farm or workplace
🌊 A beach, creek or walking track
🐸 Even an outdoor basin or laundry sink!
There's no need to travel, join a group or set aside an entire day.
Ten minutes exploring your own patch of Tasmania is a perfectly good place to start.
Of course, organised activities are a wonderful opportunity to explore with others, share knowledge and learn new skills — but they're just one way to participate.
Whether you're an experienced naturalist, a keen photographer or someone who's only just discovered iNaturalist, you're welcome to join us.
