We are an independent not-for-profit promotional agency striving to bring vibrancy to Launceston CBD, working with local businesses to showcase the best our city has to offer. Our organisation has been around for over 30 yea

We're a small team but we run a big website - did you know that launcestoncentral.com.au hosts the only complete directory of all Launnie CBD businesses? Not only that, we've personally written descriptions for each of them. We’ve also done the hard work for you and gathered details of the best events happening in the heart of Launceston. FAQ:

A ‌customer ‌steps into Venue Clothing on Kingsway, looks up at the hat wall, with hats stacked from the floor right up to the ceiling, and asks the same thing Luke hears all the time: “Is this a chain?” He’s heard it often enough that it barely registers now. People just can’t get over how much stock is available. “They can’t believe the amount of hats that we’ve got,” he says. “For little old Launceston, they’re pretty impressed by the hat wall.” Tourists take it up a notch. They wander in, stare for a second, and then it starts, “Wow, I wish we had one of these!” They ask why there isn’t a Venue in Hobart, whether there’s one in Melbourne, whether he’s thought about opening closer to them. The point is always the same: they want one where they live.

Twelve years back, before any of that, Luke was doing what a lot of people do when they’re itching to start something, scanning around for an idea that felt right. By 2014 he’d settled on it: a streetwear shop on Charles Street called Wanted Streetwear, the first version of what became Venue. Launceston already had surf stores, he says, but streetwear didn’t really have a home. He wanted to add something different to the local fashion mix, something he actually cared about and liked wearing.
