Today, Friday June 5, is World Environment Day 🌏

We'd like to take a moment to thank our supporters for making our work possible. The most significant thing anyone can do for the environment is enable and support advocacy and campaigns for further protection. With the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Society coming up on June 26 2026, there's a lot to be thankful for from the Franklin and Gordon rivers flowing free, to the millions of hectares of forest and wilderness since protected across the country. None of this would have been possible without people power ✊🏽

However, there are still more forest and wilderness areas at risk of destruction. Join our volunteer teams to power campaigns for Lutruwita / Tasmania's wild places this vital work isn't possible without the combined efforts of determined communities. Check the comments section of this post for upcoming events and meetings near you 🌿

Our outdoor area and alleyway look great after Sunday's working bee. Huge thank you to the volunteers who helped:
Clear old concrete from the alleyway and lay fresh gravel
Clear out and reorganise the shed
W**d and mulch garden beds
Tidy and organise the courtyard area

This Wednesday, you'll find us at Du Cane Brewery & Dining Hall instead of the Campaign Centre for a screening of The Cost of Growth with the Tasmanian University Environment Society, and Grassroots Action Network Northern Tasmania.

If you missed out on a spot at the screening, please join us back at the campaign centre for our weekly meeting next Wednesday, May 20, 5.30 to 6.30pm. We'll be diving in to some planning for our current and upcoming campaigns and you can find out how to get involved 🌿

We’re closed today, Friday 1st May, for a staff training! We’ll be back next week from Tuesday 🌿
