The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe heatwave warning for Tasmania's east coast and south-east, with Hobart on track for a record run of warm October days.

The capital reached 30.4 degrees on Tuesday, its hottest October day in nine years, and is forecast to hit 30 degrees today and 29 degrees on Friday.

Hobart will “continue to feel this summer-like warmth until Friday”, Weatherzone meteorologist Ben Domensino said.

The Bureau said severe heatwaves “can be dangerous for many people”, but Weatherzone said the heatwave would “end abruptly” this weekend.

Our Be the Spark November Appeal is coming, and we'd love for you to be ready.

It only takes a spark to start something new and powerful. A song, an encouraging word or a moment of hope can reach someone right when they need it most. That's what Be the Spark is about: every one of us has the chance to bring a little light into someone else's day.

Recently, a lady heard a radio spot on WayFM that encouraged her to visit a local church. There she gave her life to the Lord and was baptised. It only takes a spark.

Then there's Phil, who is 72 and housebound. He told us WayFM is his window to the world, and that he deeply appreciates what we do. Every day, WayFM brings that kind of encouragement to listeners across Northern Tasmania.

As a community radio station, we rely on the support of our listeners to stay on air, and sponsorship (business advertising) alone isn't enough to sustain us.

Because of the generosity of our supporters in June, our November appeal budget is $40,000. We're believing in faith we may even reach this target before the appeal officially starts in November.

Dave is certainly no stranger to WayFM, having hosted numerous shows over the years, and we’re thrilled to have him back behind the microphone.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a frost warning for northern Tasmania and the Midlands, with several towns set for sub-zero starts THIS morning.

Deloraine is forecast to fall to minus 2 degrees, Railton and Ross to minus 1 and several inland towns to zero.

The bureau said ground-level temperatures could be "many degrees lower" than station readings as a high-pressure ridge moves across Tasmania on Sunday and Monday.

Most areas should turn fine after the morning frost, but snow is forecast above 800 metres before more inland frost and valley fog on Monday.
