Have you ever thought about giving a food hamper? Unpack one with us 👇

For $81, you can provide a hamper packed with essentials like:

🥛 Long-life milk
🍝 Pasta
🥫 Tinned goods

Simple items, but for a fellow Tasmanian doing it tough, it can mean everything.

Food that lasts. Food that means someone doesn’t have to go hungry.

With rental costs climbing, fuel prices skyrocketing and household budgets being stretched to the limit, more and more people are being forced to choose between buying food or paying rent.

Will you give a food hamper this Winter to help?

Every gift over $2 is tax-deductible!

In Tasmania, thousands of people are currently experiencing housing stress and homelessness.

On 18 June, business and community leaders across the State will spend one of the coldest nights of the year sleeping rough, standing in solidarity with people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

But the impact of this night goes far beyond one evening. Every donation helps Vinnies provide essential services, emergency support, and long-term assistance to Tasmanians when they need it most.

Your support can make a real difference, donate today and help change lives: https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/event/tasmania

Hi, my name is David*, and I want to share a moment that changed everything for me.

It began with a handwritten note I found while sleeping rough – a moment that stayed with me and led me to reach out for help.

Not long ago, I had a steady, well-paid job. I’d rented the same place for 15 years. But then work dried up.

Within months, I found myself sleeping rough in the cold.

Then one day I noticed someone had tucked a small sandwich bag in my sleeping bag. Inside was $3 and a handwritten note:

“I hope this helps. Here’s $3. Charlie, 7.”

I never met Charlie. But his kindness meant everything to me – which is why I’ve held onto that note.

I bought myself a loaf of bread with the coins and it was the first food I’d had in days.

That small act of generosity inspired me to get help. I reached out to Vinnies – and I’m so glad I did.

A Vinnies volunteer member gave me food and some vouchers I could use in Vinnies stores. Then I spoke to a Store manager and told her my story.

She made some calls and put me in touch with others who were able to help me turn my life around.

I couldn't believe it. I was in tears.

And eventually, I finally had a permanent home. A place I could call my own.

Right now, more people are facing the same situation I was. People who never expected it, just like me.

Your donation today can help someone get through that moment. Just like Charlie did for me.

Please give if you can: https://bit.ly/3RsUk50

And if you’ve supported Vinnies before, I’d love to hear why in the comments.

Your reason might be the one that inspires someone else to give.

– David

35% of people seeking support in Tasmania during February this year were sole parents with dependants.

Behind this number are parents doing it tough, often carrying the load alone while working hard to keep food on the table, a roof over their children’s heads, and stability in their lives.

At Vinnies, we see the strength and resilience of these families every day, and we’re proud to stand alongside them with practical support and care when it’s needed most.

One night can drive real, lasting change.

The Vinnies CEO Sleepout invites business and community leaders to step up on 18 June, spending a night sleeping rough in solidarity with people experiencing homelessness while helping raise vital funds and awareness.

Held in Hobart and Launceston, the CEO Sleepout shines a light on housing insecurity across Tasmania where too many individuals and families are doing it tough.

Every dollar raised helps Vinnies deliver essential services and practical support to vulnerable Tasmanians, ensuring help is there when it’s needed most.

Power bills continue to place pressure on households across Tasmania, adding to the daily strain faced by people already doing it tough.

In February, emergency energy hardship assistance helped 9 households across the state.

At Vinnies, we know that access to warmth, light, and basic utilities is not a luxury, it’s essential. No one should have to choose between keeping the power on and meeting other basic needs.

Hi 👋. My name is Stephen, and I’m a team member at Vinnies.

Every day, I see people like David* being pushed into homelessness and poverty by one sudden crisis.

When David first walked through our doors, he’d been sleeping rough.

He told me how quickly everything changed.

He’d had steady work. A home he’d lived in for 15 years.

Then the work dried up… and within months, he couldn’t afford the rent.

“I couldn’t believe how quickly it happened,” he said.

That’s what stays with me. Because I see it every day.

People who never thought they’d need help… suddenly asking where they’ll sleep. Or when they’ll eat next.

At Vinnies, we do everything we can to be there. Providing food, clothing, emergency accommodation, and ongoing support to help people rebuild their lives.

But more people are turning to us than ever before.

Will you please give today to help us be there for the growing number of Tasmanians turning to us for help?

Your support helps us respond when someone walks through our doors with nowhere else to go.

An $81 donation can provide a food hamper for someone doing it tough this winter.

We need your URGENT help! Please SHARE this post to reach more people.

Fuel prices are skyrocketing.
Rental costs are rising.
And groceries are going up every week.

Right now, 1 in 5 Australian households have less than $100 in savings (1). It only takes one sudden crisis to change everything.

Here at Vinnies Tasmania, we’re doing everything we can to be there…

Providing food, clothing, emergency accommodation, and support to help people rebuild their lives.

But demand for our services is rising fast. We really need YOUR help this Winter.

We’ve set the goal of raising $220,000 to help people doing it tough rebuild their lives.

It only takes $81 to provide a food hamper packed with essentials like long-life milk, flour and pasta to a person in need.

And even a small gift can help.

Your tax-deductible gift can help make sure someone has food on the table, and a roof over their head.

You have the opportunity to do something amazing tonight. It will be the best thing you have done this week.

Can you answer the call of someone doing it tough?
