Stompin cultivates a non-competitive, Youth Dance environment that encourages young Tasmanians to explore, create and grow as individuals, citizens and artists through their connection with contemporary dance. Stompin is a Youth Dance organisation that has been successfully creating a non-competitive, creative environment for young people grow as artists, individuals and citizens through their con
nection with contemporary dance for over 29 years. A fixture and stalwart of Tasmanian dance and arts ecology, Stompin is the starting point for many Arts Professionals’ trajectory into long-term careers within the arts sector. The company has also seen significant National recognition and traction through its projects and artistic development processes. The environment we generate focuses on cultivating a non-competitive dance environment to help develop young Tasmanian artists, to educate and inspire them for a life either in the arts or as an appreciator of the arts which then filters into the broader, National cultural landscape. Our performance culture brings together our Youth Dance company members with industry professionals, to share their artistic practice and methods and encourage our Stompers to pragmatically integrate different styles when developing their own practice. Stompin develops artists, audiences and community through creating and presenting unforgettable performances in ordinary and extraordinary places.
