Enterprising Aardvark is a free, not-for-profit counselling service for people in Northern Tasmania who have experienced complex early childhood trauma and sexual assault, as well as those people who care for and support them. Enterprising Aardvark focuses on helping clients re-establish their own sense of safety and empowerment. They have more than 40 years of experience working in the sexual assault field.
Sue Wynne, Director of Fund Raising for the Rotary Club of Tamar Sunrise, is passionate about supporting Enterprising Aardvark with this event. “Enterprising Aardvark provides counselling with compassion and evidence-based strategies which are incredibly important in beginning a healing process for survivors. Enterprising Aardvark provides on-going support for children and adults at a no cost, making the service available to those who may not normally be able to access this support. Supporting vulnerable members of our community in their healing and access to support services is a focus of the Rotary Club of Tamar Sunrise. Several of our members work with Domestic/Family violence and sexual abuse survivors and are conscious of the limited services available here in Launceston. We are keen to fundraise for such an important service.”
Lisa, from Enterprise Aardvark is grateful for the support. “Now in our 10th year, we are always so appreciative of the support we get from the community, and the Rotary Club of Tamar Sunrise has very kindly chosen us to support this year! Thank you! We know the huge effort that goes into throwing an event like this, and it sounds like it’s going to be an awesome shindig! As an unfunded, free service for survivors and those who care for them, we approach our work with the understanding that social suffering is not a mental illness, and that communities can achieve so much when we work together, for the good of everyone.
