There's always something new to make, plenty of laughs to share, and a great opportunity to connect with others in a relaxed and welcoming environment. We love to see creativity come to life! 💛

Helping People Stay Home Longer 💙

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers and team who continue to provide vital support to our community, especially throughout the colder winter months. ❄️

From lawns mowed and shopping bags carried to friendly visits and transport to appointments, every act of kindness helps older Tasmanians stay safe, independent and connected to their community.

Every job makes a difference, and every volunteer makes an impact.

Thank you for the care, compassion and generosity you bring to our community every day. 🫶

A huge shout out and thank you to Sandip, our amazing IT student placement superstar, who spent time with us and quickly became part of the LVFC team.
Sandip patiently put up with all of our “quick IT questions” (which were rarely quick 😂), helped us untangle some tricky processes, streamline systems, and made our everyday work just that little bit easier.
Weeks later and we’re still saying… “Do you think Sandip could come back?” 🤔
Thank you, Sandip, for your knowledge, patience, and willingness to jump in and help wherever needed. We wish you all the best and hope this isn’t the last we see of you! 👏💻

💜 Lifelong Respect – Walk Against Elder Abuse 💜

In June, we were proud to attend the Lifelong Respect: Walk Against Elder Abuse, a meaningful community event focused on raising awareness and preventing elder abuse.

The walk brought people together to highlight the importance of dignity, safety, and respect for older members of our community, and to encourage open conversations that lead to real change.

Thank you to COTA Tasmania for hosting such an important initiative and continuing to champion this work across our communities.

A gentle reminder that our volunteers give their time to support others, because they care.
Kindness and respect help them continue doing what they do best. ✨

If a volunteer has helped you recently, we’d love you to share a kind message below 💜

Supporting the future of community care 💙

We welcome the recent Senate Community Affairs Committee report recognising the important role the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) plays in helping older Australians stay independent, connected and supported at home.

At Launceston Volunteers for Community (LVFC), we know CHSP is more than a service - it is friendship, connection and the practical support that helps people continue living life their way.

Our community is at the heart of this work. CHSP relies on the amazing commitment of volunteers, community organisations and local networks - without them, these vital supports simply wouldn’t happen.

We thank COTA Australia, the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) and Ageing Australia for continuing to advocate for older Australians and ensuring their voices are heard.

Together, we can keep building a community where ageing is valued, supported and connected. 💙

Today we’re saying 'see you soon' to our wonderful volunteer, Goku 👋

Due to workload, Goku has made the difficult decision to step back from volunteering for now. While we’re sad to see him go, we’re incredibly grateful for the time, care, and commitment he has shared with our clients and team.

Goku has been a valued member of LVFC, and his kindness, reliability, and positive attitude have left a lasting impression on everyone around him.

We are so thankful for everything Goku has contributed during his time with us and wish him all the very best in this next chapter. We hope our paths cross again and that we’ll have the chance to welcome him back to LVFC one day.

And while Goku kindly provided this photo for us to use… those who know him will agree this is very serious 😄

Thank you, Goku, and best of luck with what’s ahead!

A lovely moment of connection through something simple we all enjoy — gardening 🌱💛
Our volunteers have been sharing their home-grown produce with one another, along with fresh veggies, handmade sourdough bread, and plenty of good conversation along the way.

It’s amazing what grows when community does too 🌿

A beautiful surprise from one of our past volunteers 💛✨
We were recently gifted a gourmet box, a lovely reminder of the lasting connections built here at LVFC. It truly shows that once you’re part of our community, you’re always part of it 🌻
