A new National Lung Cancer Screening Program is available, with extra services and support to help rural and remote Australians access the program.

If you’re aged 50 to 70 and have a history of smoking, you may be eligible for free lung screening that could save your life.

It's good to know.

🫁 Regional and remote Aussies are getting behind free lung cancer screening, with more than 42,000 scans completed outside major cities in the program’s first year.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section is helping by taking the message on the road, supporting people in rural, regional and remote communities find out if they’re eligible.

Our Philanthropy and Communications team undertook a tow course to learn the tips and tricks that help us get our SIM around the state.

With thanks to Tow without Tears's Mark, we'll be able to take the SIM out and about more often and with more confidence.

Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting a special afternoon tea in St Helens, bringing together the people from across the Break O'Day region whose generosity helps keep the Royal Flying Doctor Service delivering essential healthcare in the air and on the ground.

Thanks to generosity, RFDS Tasmania provided in the past financial year in Break O'Day:

✅ 1,981 Physical Health appointments
✅ 237 Adult Mental Health and 265 Youth Mental Health consultations
✅ 687 Dental appointments

And our aeromedical retrieval team, in partnership with Ambulance Tasmania, made more than 130 lifesaving flights to St Helens.

These numbers represent more than healthcare services. They are lives improved, communities strengthened, and better access to care for Tasmanians who need it most.

To everyone in the Break O'Day region who supports RFDS Tasmania, thank you.

Things are moving quickly out at our base at Launceston Airport.

With the concrete slab down and the walls rising, it's exciting to see the footprint and scale of the project as it takes shape.

While there's still plenty of work ahead, it's encouraging to see the base moving from plans on paper to a facility that will support our crews, patients and the community for decades to come.
