We still have a long way to go 📊💔

We’re at the halfway mark of our August Dignity Drive, and this graph shows where we’re currently at in relation to products collected vs item requests. While every donation so far has made a real impact, we are not yet on track to meet the level of need from our charity partners.

That need is urgent.

Behind every product requested is a woman, girl or person who menstruates who may otherwise go without the basic essentials they need to manage their period with dignity.

Three in five women have struggled to afford period products at some point in their life. This is why menstrual equity is everyone’s business, and why your support matters right now.

If you’re able, please consider donating unopened period products or incontinence aids at Woolworths Supermarkets or participating business collection points nationwide.

Every donation counts, and right now, every single one matters more than ever ✨

The way you talk about periods at home shapes how your children will feel about them for the rest of their lives.

And that conversation isn’t just for daughters - it’s for sons too.

For daughters, talking openly about periods helps them feel prepared rather than frightened when their first one arrives. They learn that periods are a normal, healthy part of growing up and that they never need to feel embarrassed to ask questions or seek help.

For sons, these conversations build empathy, respect and understanding. Boys who grow up knowing that periods are simply part of life are less likely to stigmatise them and more likely to become supportive friends, partners, colleagues and fathers.

Here are a few simple ways to start:
💗 Use the correct words - “period” and “menstruation” aren’t dirty words.
📚 Start the conversation before puberty, not after.
🩸 Answer questions honestly and without embarrassment.
🏃 Teach children that while periods are normal, severe pain or very heavy bleeding is not something to simply “put up with.”
🛒 Make period products as ordinary as toothpaste or band-aids in your home.

The goal isn’t one awkward “big talk.”
It’s lots of small, open conversations over time.

Let’s raise children who understand that periods are just another part of human health - not something to whisper about.

💬 Parents - how old were your children when you first talked about periods?
💬 Or how old were you when your parents discussed periods with you?

It’s hard to find the words to describe just how much the past few days has meant to me.

This past Thursday and Friday, we held our second ever It's in the Bag Recipient Experience, bringing together six recipients from all walks of life for two days that I’ll never forget.

Connecting with these incredible women, we pampered them, listened deeply, and held space for some of the most raw, honest, and powerful stories I’ve ever heard. Bravely sharing their journeys and opening up for Another Bloody Podcast, and it was nothing short of magic. I cannot thank these strong, amazing women enough for putting their trust in us and travelling in for two emotionally heavy, but hopefully incredibly rewarding, days.

I’ll be forever grateful for the courage they showed and the love they shared, and I can’t wait to introduce you to each of these remarkable women in the lead-up to It’s in the Bag this November.

If you’re feeling inspired, you can make a difference too. Head to sharethedignity.org.au/itsinthebag to grab the shopping list to get started on your bags. It’s in the Bag collections will be open at all Bunnings stores from 6–22 November 2026.

Let’s make sure every woman and girl fleeing domestic violence, experiencing homelessness or facing extreme poverty feels seen, supported, and loved 🩷

We are so excited to share the dates for It’s in the Bag 2026 🙌

This year, collection points will be open in Bunnings Warehouse Australia stores nationwide from 6th to 22nd November, slightly earlier than usual, as we celebrate 10 years of Bunnings supporting Share the Dignity!

We have moved the collection period forward slightly, which will enable us to get your donations to charities sooner, meaning each recipient receives their bag as a gift on Christmas Day, right when they need the love the most!

There are so many end of financial year sales going on this month, so there is no better way to get started on your bag, and we would be so grateful for you to share any great specials you see. Buying just a product or two each month will help to make sure your bag is ready in time to drop off early November!

Don't forget, we are looking for each bag to contain these seven essential items, and a handwritten note is always a really lovely addition that recipients talk about long after the shampoo bottle is empty:

💝Period products
💝Shampoo
💝Conditioner
💝Soap or body wash
💝Toothbrush
💝Toothpaste
💝Deodorant (roll-on preferred)

We’d love your support in welcoming this positive change as we look ahead to It's in the Bag 2026! To learn more about how to put together a bag, please visit: https://www.sharethedignity.org.au/itsinthebag
