In case you didn't know already, Rotary Frankston Sunrise has a brand new website :)

Shout out of thanks to Frankston City Council for their grant funding that helped us do this much needed upgrade to our website (an integral tool and resource for our club), and to Mick Friend from Grendesign for his professionalism, responsiveness, assistance, and patience (yes, he needed loads of patience)...we could not be happier with the end result.

Take a look and learn more about our Rotary Club...reach out if you're interested to learn more about volunteering in your community.

Last week we had the pleasure of having outgoing Rotary 9815 District Governor Peter Behm join us at our Golf Day Recipient Breakfast.

Peter spoke passionately about Rotary and how we, as Rotarians, can keep shining a spotlight on the work we do, and engender interest and potential membership opportunities, by effectively using social media, websites, podcasts, and signage at every opportunity.

Did you know District 9815 encompasses 84 clubs, boasts 2236+ Rotarians and Honorary Members in our community, and Frankston is one of only four clubs that opts to meet in the mornings (along with Rowville, Bentleigh-Moorabbin, Box Hill Central and Bairnsdale)?

If you'd like to learn more about Rotary and are perhaps considering doing some volunteering, please don't hesitate to get in touch as we'd love to invite you to come along to a breakfast meeting and find out for yourself what we're all about. Drop us an email to [email protected]

This week we held our second Beneficiary Breakfast where we were able to donate more funds to support local charities and organisations doing incredible work, both in our community and beyond.

We heard from Susan and Steve from Community Support Frankston, Dr Lucy White from Pets In The Park, Adrian Lloyd from Frankston Football Club, and Fay from Destiny Rescue - the work these organisations are doing to support vulnerable people is truly incredible.

Being able to help them help others using funds from our Annual Charity Golf Day makes it all worthwhile.

This is just a small part of what it means to be a Rotarian...if you'd like to learn more about volunteering with Rotary, please get in touch with us via email to [email protected]

You might not know this Rotary Frankston Sunrise has proudly sponsored a new Shock Station which is located just outside Breathe Hair Salon in Wells St.

Community First Responders Australia is hosting a free 1.5hr training session Tuesday of next week (May 19) at 8 Wells St Frankston for anyone who would like to learn how to save someone's life.

Please share within your own networks and let's get as many people trained as we can...you never know when you might need this type of help.

Last week, Rotary Frankston Sunrise proudly hosted the first of our two Beneficiary Breakfasts at McClelland Gallery, where we had the privilege of presenting $20,500 in donations from proceeds raised through our Annual Charity Golf Day held in March.

On the day, we were delighted to support three incredible organisations doing important work for vulnerable members of our community:
✨ Peninsula Kingswood Foundation
✨ Fusion Mornington Peninsula
✨ Wheelchairs for Kids

These charities are creating meaningful impact every single day, and we are proud to play a small role in supporting their efforts.

A huge thank you also goes to our wonderful Golf Day sponsors for helping us be able to gift $48,000 this year. Your ongoing generosity and support make these donations possible and help us continue investing back into the community.

Together, we really are making a difference — and we look forward to welcoming even more deserving organisations at our second Beneficiary Breakfast next week.

Today was working bee time at Golf Links Road Palliative Care to plant new plants, lay out new mulch, and give the garden a spruce. Armed with wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, blowers, and secateurs, our trusty crew got to work...and it was finished in record time (just under two hours).

This garden area is enjoyed by both patients at the palliative care unit and their visiting families and friends so it's a labour of love for us. HUGE shout out of thanks to Southern Plants for donating over 14 different natives to be added to the garden.

The day was finished off with a couple of trays of cinnamon donuts and a very well received bag of snowballs :) Well done to everyone involved for the gift of their time this morning...no doubt your efforts will be enjoyed by many who spend time at the unit.

Here's a fabulous highlights video (thanks to Ben and Billy from ) of this year's Annual Charity Golf Day.

We'd like to thank the playing team sponsors and those businesses that donated to support the auction and raffle...without your support, this event would not continue to be the success that it is.

Last week our guest speaker was Jetha Devapura, an inspiring philanthropist who immigrated from Sri Lanka to Australia at the age of 12, and is now founder and CEO of the LET'S TALK program.

The LET'S TALK foundation was created in 2016 after a shocking increase in su***de rates in our community. To quote a family member bereaved “if only they felt they could talk to someone, that it’s OK to be struggling and help is here…” This thought resonated with so many of the families and friends who lost someone to su***de.

The Let'sTALK Program aims to build the skills, confidence and systems in our schools and workplaces to stop the escalation of small concerns becoming more serious issues such as mental illness and even su***de.

"Letting everyone talk safely' is the vision of the Let'sTALK Program by enabling people to feel 'seen, heard and valued'; its purpose. I believe that continuous improvement, innovation and growth can not be sustained in any environment where people feel unsafe to voice out their ideas and mistakes," he said.

Jetha explained the LET'S TALK Foundation took this message and turned it into a community wide action. The message is clear and concise:
L - Learn self care
E - Express your feelings
T - Tell someone
S - Someone loves you
T - Talk
A - Ask
L - Listen
K - Keep talking

If you'd like to learn more or make a donation, visit https://www.letstalkaustralia.org

We thank Jetha for the gift of his time and his passion of breaking the stigma of mental health.

We've always been a club that loves a 'hands-on project' so it didn't take much effort for us to get a crew together to tackle the task at hand at McClelland Sculpture Park+Gallery.

The job was to restore the patio area on the east side of Harry’s Studio, to perfectly complement the new deck on the west. Together, these spaces create welcoming areas for children to learn, explore and connect within the bush environment.

McClelland were thrilled with the work done and, as a not-for-profit, they are extremely grateful for the time, care and generosity given by those who volunteer to lend a hand.

Big thanks and acknowledgement go to club members (left to right) Shane, David, Warwick, Jason, and Platts for their efforts on the day...absolute superstars.
