📚 Lesson plan creation: English, Maths, Humanities & Social Science, Visual Arts, Physical Education, Science, Portuguese, Tetun, Drama & Health

Together, they’re helping strengthen classrooms, support teachers and expand learning opportunities for students at BSE.

5 years of heart. 5 years of impact. 💙

This year, we’re celebrating an incredible milestone — five of our volunteers have now reached 5 years with BETTER.

Over the coming days, we will be sharing the stories behind their journeys and the impact they’ve made across our community. We begin with Amanda, whose volunteer journey as General Manager has helped shape BETTER into what it is today. Through steady leadership and a deep belief in our vision, to coordinating teams and supporting volunteers behind the scenes. Amanda is a constant force ensuring everything runs smoothly, but her impact goes far beyond operations. Amanda has shaped the environment we work in - bringing clarity when things get complex, encouragement when it is needed most, and a steady vision that keeps us moving forward. What makes her leadership stand out isn’t what she does - it’s how she lifts others along the way.

Three years of BSE & what a celebration it was 💫

Our third anniversary brought together everything that makes this community so special — from the incredible student showcase pieces that filled the day with pride, to recognising the dedicated staff who have been with us across all three years of growth.

Most of all, it was about community — students, staff, families and supporters coming together to celebrate how far we’ve come, and where we are heading next.

A huge thank you to everyone who played a role in bringing this event to life.

What started with just 48 students has grown into a thriving, future-focused school community in Timor-Leste — and today, we’re celebrating how far we’ve come.

From bold beginnings to real impact, BSE is delivering quality education, creating opportunity, and shaping brighter futures for hundreds of young people.

This milestone belongs to our students, staff, families, and the incredible community of supporters who have backed this vision from day one.

Three years down. The future is just getting started.
