A big thank you to our BSE staff who work hard behind the scenes to prepare nutritious meals for our students every day.

It’s more than just a meal — it’s helping our students grow, stay energised and be ready to learn.

Something new is taking shape at Bakhita! 👀🏫

Construction has officially started on our two new classrooms — making space for another 50 students to join us in 2027.

Three and a half years ago, the Bakhita School of Excellence opened its doors. Today, we have ~200 students, 22 local staff and classrooms running two shifts a day.

Now we are growing again 💙

Over the next few weeks, we’ll take you along as these classrooms go from an empty space to a place where another generation of children will learn, grow and dream.

Because education changes everything…

Growing, growing, growing! 💙

While our students enjoyed the Term 3 break, our BSE parents were busy behind the scenes — helping prepare for another exciting chapter of growth at Bakhita School of Excellence.

With 50 new students joining BSE in 2027, our school community continues to grow, creating even more opportunities for learning, connection and impact.

Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from St Joseph’s College Geelong to Same for an immersion experience with the Bakhita School of Excellence.

Over their time with us, the students became part of the BSE family — joining lessons in the classroom, getting seriously competitive during games outside, and heading into the kitchen to learn how to prepare some of our favourite local foods. 🍲🏀📚

But immersion is about so much more than the activities. It’s about connection — sharing stories, learning from one another and experiencing the genuine exchange of knowledge and culture that happens when people come together.

Thank you to the students and staff from St Joseph’s College for embracing BSE life and being part of our community. We loved having you with us! 💙

What a wonderful few days with the students and teachers from St Joseph's College Geelong! 🇹🇱🇦🇺

Our visit began with a very special welcome led by two of our Bakhita School of Excellence student MCs. Students from every year level performed before presenting our visitors with traditional tais—a symbol of friendship and welcome in Timor-Leste.

Over the next two days, our students and the St Joseph’s boys learned, played and shared together. Mana Hetty and Mana Eu taught them how to prepare some of our favourite foods, including donuts and pastes. We also enjoyed PE and local games, Tetun lessons, traditional dance, art and music.

And, of course, it couldn’t be a trip to Timor-Leste without some karaoke! 🎤

It was wonderful to see the friendships and connections formed so quickly. This was a genuine learning exchange, with both groups sharing their cultures, knowledge and experiences with one another.

Thank you to the students and teachers from St Joseph’s College Geelong for visiting us and becoming part of our Bakhita community. We hope to welcome you back again! 💙

We loved welcoming students from Dili International School to Bakhita English Institute for an English language learning and cultural exchange 🌏💙

It was a great opportunity for students to connect, share experiences and learn from one another — with plenty of conversation, laughter and new friendships along the way.

We’re always excited to see our students connecting with others and putting their English skills into practice beyond the classroom!

Who doesn’t love musical chairs? 🪑🎶

A little music, a lot of laughter and that familiar scramble for a seat!

A timeless favourite that clearly hasn’t lost its magic. 💙
