Yesterday, SLS Lakes Entrance celebrated Life Saving Victoria’s annual Pink Patrol—our biggest yet—with 60 people coming together to recognise the impact of girls and women in shaping the lifesaving movement and creating more visible opportunities and pathways. This season, we also extended the celebration to our local emergency services 🤝🏼
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Give to Gain, was explored by our incredible panel. It encourages generosity, collaboration, and action—values that sit at the heart of volunteerism.
Cherie Dear, Founder and CEO of Dare to Hope, shared how she has turned grief into action, leading a national, volunteer-led charity supporting pancreatic cancer research and awareness. daretohopeau
Erin Reed, Patrol Captain at Hampton LSC and Lifeguard Supervisor for the Central region, spoke about her leadership journey across roles including Director of Junior Activities and her work driving Life Saving Victoria’s Youth Programs. hampton.lsc
Holly Foster , Club Captain at Inverloch SLSC, highlighted her involvement across operations, training, and leadership, alongside her roles as an Area Response Officer and Beach Lifeguard. inverlochslsc
The panel also reflected on the future of volunteerism and shared their goals for 2026 as we wrapped up the morning.
Other highlights included:
• Tri Açai bowls
• Lunch from The Travelling Squid
• Pink Patrol itself—a Lakes + Mallacoota collab 💛❤️
A big thank you to 13th Beach SLSC’s Madi Adams for running an IRB Racing session—it was a fantastic afternoon 🦆
To our guests and supporting small businesses, including The Yellow Door—thank you. This event was proudly supported by the LSV Gippsland Sporting Hub Project, funded by the Victorian Government’s Strengthening Regional Community Sports Program.
It was a morning of connection that turned into opportunity on patrol.
Give generously. Collaborate openly. Take action. Say yes to what excites and challenges you 🔥
Happy 2026 Pink Patrol 🩷
