What a busy week our She Shed Lakes Entrance/ community sewing group has had this week. Donations of guard of honour quilts, hearts, trauma teddies and lots of dignity bibs made to Paynesville Community Care, Bairnsdale Hospital procedure room and oncology, Maddox gardens …… thanks ladies your hard work was appreciated by everyone that received our donations….

Another great morning at our sewing group yesterday… ready for donations are hats, cardholders, more dignity bibs and soft toys and trauma teddies…. And a number of ladies participated in a ‘jelly roll race’…. A quick method of sewing strips of fabric together to make quilts…. A number of ladies also got involved with making some children’s theatre gowns for Bairnsdale hospital. We will be dropping of some donations tomorrow to Paynesville and other places…Thanks ladies for another great Tuesday morning….have a great week and see you next week peeps!!

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A DEDICATED PERMANENT HOME

Our little community sewing group, which is now an incorporated entity officially known as She Shed Lakes Entrance, has grown more than we ever imagined 💕🧵

With an ever-growing membership and increasing requests from local organisations asking for our help, we are now desperately searching for a larger permanent home for our Community Sewing Group / She Shed.

Over the past few years, we have proudly made and donated items for hospitals, aged care communities, children’s charities, neighbourhood houses and many other wonderful local causes. The support requests just keep growing, which is amazing, but we are quickly running out of room to continue the work we do.

We are looking for a permanent dedicated space that we could use several days per week, with enough room to store our fabrics, sewing machines, tools and donated materials. Ideally, we are searching for something around 300 square metres or larger — perhaps an unused shed, unused retail space, warehouse, community hall or similar space that could be utilised by our group.

Our sewing group is about so much more than sewing. We provide a safe, welcoming and creative place for people in this wonder local community of ours to connect, socialise, learn new skills and support others through handmade kindness.

If any local businesses, organisations, property owners or community members have ideas, suggestions or possible spaces we could discuss, we would absolutely love to have a chat.

Another Ab Fab day for our community sewing group in Lakes. Projects completed included more dignity bibs, quilts, shardies, blankets, hats, bags and other items. Another large donation made to Orbost Aged Care Community, Waratah Lodge this week…… and oooohhhhh the cake…. A fabulous morning tea…. Thanks ladies. I just want to thank each and everyone one of you for what you bring to our group and the local community…. I know it gets a bit hectic sometimes…. But we all have fun…..We are all truly blessed….
