Repair It Lake Mac Our vision is to create a free (and fun!) meeting place where people come together to repair and give a new lease of life to their stuff.

We want to help people connect with their local community, reduce waste, share skills and build friendships.

The impact of repairing items is huge! Bring your clothing that need repair to our Repair Cafe this Saturday.

The problem: The global textile industry contributes an estimated 8–10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Our behaviours could shift that.

🪡

When we mend we are actively keeping our money from this destructive industry. That's the power of a needle and thread!

Mending can encourage valuing the clothes you already own instead of buying new.

By giving your clothes a second, third & fourth life, you’re making your money last longer.

It can slow down modern clothes-buying habits.

It encourages creativity and mindfulness - try visible mending or the Japanese Sashiko style.

Buy less, choose well, make it last!

It's always good to reflect on our achievements after a year of hard work. Throughout the 2025/26 financial year, Repair It Lake Mac volunteers have achieved some outstanding results.

Not only do we run Repair Cafes and Destash Events, we have also partnered with local organisations to divert unwanted clothing and textiles from landfill.

Check out what we've managed to achieve with the help of our amazing volunteers who generously donate their time to creating a more sustainable community.

Getting ready for the Fabric Destash!
We are here till 2pm!

Repair It Lake Mac is a volunteer run initiative and we rely on the support of the community and business to help us achieve our goals.

Today we’re saying a big THANK YOU to Origin Energy for supporting us through their Eraring Community Investment Fund, allowing us to purchase 2 semi-industrial sewing machines and overlockers. These new machines will open up a world of possibilities for repurposing textile waste.

What this investment from Origin is helping us to achieve:

♻️Diverting over 1150kg of textile waste from landfill (and counting!)

🐝2 x community sewing bees with more to come in 2027. Volunteers are repurposing waste into reusable items for the community.

👗An upcoming costume making workshop using repurposed textiles. (Check out our events page)

We are gearing up for our next Hunter Fabric Destash event this Saturday.

Stallholder tickets are still available for purchase. If you have been holding off because you don't have your own table to bring, you're in luck! Tables can be provided for select ticket holders.

Morisset Multi Purpose Centre is a huge space with lots of room for stallholders and shoppers to be surrounded by fabric delights.

Share your stories with us - What special project are you shopping for? What have you created that you are selling excess fabric from? We'd love to know!
