is an Incorporated Association and Charity, registered with the office of Fair Trading QLD. We understand that survivors of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) or Domestic Violence (DV) frequently suffer post-trauma loss of their dreams and goals. Our focus is to address the limiting, paralysing reality of "what now?" which leaves many survivors struggling to regain control of their life, ... even after comp
lex, professional therapy has occurred. Our intention is to purchase land upon which we design and build a 'Living Learning Centre' for survivors of CSA and DV. is focused on developing a large acreage property so that we may provide small safe dwellings to survivors whilst offering them ready access to educational workshops, a common meeting space, a purpose built market square, relaxation gardens, permaculture and inspirational monuments. We envisage the property to be as self sufficient as possible whilst also operating creatively and in co-operation with the wider community. Our planning includes developing 'Practical Peace Programs'. These will be practical, accredited coursework with the mission of moving survivors toward a positive, peaceful and independent tomorrow. By providing the practical support required whilst regaining the skills, confidence and know-how essential to enter the workforce, we believe survivors of CSA and DV will be more adequately equipped to complete the bridging then ongoing formal studies required to navigate the pathway to their dreamed future. We recognise that, for too many survivors, a study objective can be impossible to achieve, whilst simultaneously challenged with debilitating post-trauma fear, ongoing triggers and social phobias - in addition to the every day strain of life. Offering practical assistance in meeting housing and emotional and family support needs assures a learning environment more suited to survivors of these atrocities. What better peace can there be for survivors than the peace felt within when able to work in an enjoyable dream profession, with the outcome of financial self-reliance for self and family? ...
Our clients will be able to live on the property in a safe, supportive environment, whilst undergoing a registered course of their choosing, with the target of job readiness. In return for accommodation and in addition to their study commitments, clients will assist with general maintenance of the property and be expected to take care of their allocated private living space. The property will enlist permaculture principles. Food production and the importance of environment will be highlighted in our use of re-purposed building materials and gardens, to further encourage a healthy ecosystem. Another important provision available to clients will be music, art and craft classes where interested clients may learn a new skill. The opportunity to sell artwork and handicrafts to the general community at our purpose built market square will be regularly made available. In this way, clients will be able to learn the skills attached not only to the creation of their art and craft work but also in the general running of a market stall small business. We invite you to join 'small rights BIG CHANGES Inc.' and be part of our holistic approach to helping survivors, whilst also raising awareness of these issues. Help us help others, in finding preventative programs, for the long term well being and safety of us all. "Evil can only flourish when good people do nothing."
