🔥 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟏 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 🔥

From Sunday 1 March, fire permits will be available for residents within the Coolamon, Wagga Wagga, Lockhart and Junee LGAs.

If you’re planning to burn, please make sure you understand and comply with the permit conditions:

✅ No burning before 2pm
✅ Fires must be fully extinguished before being left unattended
✅ A 3 metre fire break must be in place around the burn
✅ A minimum of 2 fire units, each with at least 1,000 litres of water, must be on site
✅ No burning of timber

These conditions are in place to help protect our communities, our volunteers, and your property.

If you need to conduct a burn, apply early and ensure you’re properly prepared before lighting up.

🔥𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐇 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐎𝐃 – 𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐀 𝐙𝐎𝐍𝐄🔥

The Bush Fire Danger Period for the Riverina Zone, covering the Wagga Wagga, Coolamon, Junee and Lockhart Local Government Areas, commences:

📅𝐒𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟏 𝐍𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓📅

From this date, you must obtain a 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐭 before lighting any fires in the open, including pile burns and hazard reductions. Even with a permit, you must notify your neighbours and the RFS at least 24 hours before burning.

Now is the time to:
✅ Prepare your property, clear gutters, mow grass, and remove flammable materials.
✅ Review and update your Bush Fire Survival Plan.
✅ Stay informed – check Fires Near Me NSW and www.rfs.nsw.gov.au for fire danger ratings and permit information.

🔥FIRE CALL | TREE ALIGHT | GREGADOO 🔥

Last night responded along with Ladysmith Rural Fire Service to assist Lake Albert RFB with a reported lightning ⚡️ strike resulting in a tree 🌳 catching alight 🔥 on a property at Gregadoo.
The tree was located on a remote and difficult to access area of the property which could not be accessed with heavy tankers, so smaller appliances were used for the fire attack and the larger trucks supplied water.
The tree and surrounding area were made safe for the night, with crews and land owner returning to patrol this morning.

This is a great reminder to all land owners of the importance of checking your property after a lightning storm ⛈️ passes through. If this tree had gone undetected, the fire could have easily spread and presented a challenge to contain.
