Strong homes aren't built by one person, they're built together.

Every family is different, but one thing many of us have in common is looking after each other.

Sharing the cooking, helping with the bills, caring for children, or simply lending a hand can make life easier for everyone. When everyone contributes in the ways they can, it helps create a stable home where families can thrive.

Understanding tenancy responsibilities, household costs and budgeting doesn't mean leaving culture behind, it helps protect the things that matter most.

The Wunan Financial Hub works alongside families to build stronger homes, stronger relationships and stronger futures, with support that respects our mob way.

Looking after each other has always been our strength.

It was a pleasure to welcome Shane Hamilton, CEO of Aboriginal Hostels Limited, and Deanne Bear, Interim General Manager Operations, to the KNX Community Hostel yesterday.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the important role the hostel plays in supporting people from across the Kimberley, while highlighting Wunan's ongoing commitment to providing safe, affordable accommodation and pathways to opportunity.

More Kimberley drivers are hitting the road!

Between November 2024 and June 2026, Wunan’s Driving Access and Equity Program:

✅ Supported 194 people
✅ Delivered 1,000+ hours of driving support
✅ Helped 88 people earn their licence
✅ Achieved a fantastic 76% first-time pass rate

A driver’s licence means greater independence and more opportunities for work, education and connection. Congratulations to every participant who got behind the wheel, and thank you to our dedicated team and community partners!

And we’re not finished yet! With the program extended, we’re ready to help even more Kimberley people get on the road. 🧡

Literacy opens so many doors that impact education, opportunity, and confidence.

Today we recognise the importance of supporting literacy in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, especially for our young people.

Every story shared, every book read, helps build stronger futures. 📚

Looking after each other is part of who we are. Family shares, supports and stands together so everyone has a safe place to call home.

Whether it's helping with the shopping, contributing to bills, cooking a meal, or lending a hand around the house, every little bit makes a difference. When we all do our part, we can keep our homes strong, our families connected, and our communities thriving.

If you need support with housing, understanding your tenancy, or managing your money in a way that respects our mob way, Wunan is here to help.

After almost a decade with Wunan Foundation, Richard is taking a well-earned break and moving into a new chapter.

Over the past eight to nine years, Richard has shown enormous commitment to his team and the many clients supported through the Jobs and Skills Centre. His contribution to Wunan also reaches much further back, having worked alongside Ian on many community projects over the years—even helping to kiln the EKAAA award plates in Wunan’s early days!

Richard’s knowledge, dedication and steady presence have made a lasting impact, and it was lovely to hear Ian and Courteney acknowledge everything he has contributed at his recent farewell.

While Richard isn’t retiring or leaving Kununurra, he will be greatly missed by the Jobs and Skills Centre team.

Thank you, Richard, for almost a decade of service to Wunan and the East Kimberley community. We wish you all the very best for your next chapter and look forward to still seeing you around. 💚

A home of your own can feel like a big goal, but understanding the pathway is an important first step. 🏡

Wunan Foundation recently held two community events in Kununurra to help local Aboriginal people learn more about purchasing a home and the support available along the way.

The Pathways to Home Ownership Information Session at Lily Lagoon Resort brought together local experts to discuss home loans, eligibility, finding the right property and preparing for home ownership.

This was followed by an Open Day at Wunan’s Kununurra office, giving community members another opportunity to meet our team, ask questions and talk through their individual circumstances.

It was also an exciting milestone for our new Housing Program Coordinator, Jussy, who recently supported her first client to make an offer on a property!

A big thank you to Indigenous Business Australia, Nirrumbuk Environmental Health and Services, East Kimberley Real Estate, Keystart and First National Real Estate Kimberley—and to everyone from the community who came along.
