This NAIDOC Week, we're celebrating 50 Years of Deadly, marking five decades of honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, achievements, and communities.

At PCYC, we know how much culture, community, and connection matter to young people's wellbeing. We're proud to be a space where all young people feel welcome.

PCYC and Kununurra Waringarri Aboriginal Corporation (KWAC) are pleased to announce an extension of their collaboration supporting young people at risk in Kununurra. Under this ongoing partnership, PCYC will continue to provide its Youth Hub for KWAC to deliver culturally grounded, community-led activities for local young people.

This partnership, along with PCYC’s safeSPACE™ program and collaboration with MG Corporation and 54 Reasons, is instrumental in delivering a community-led circuit-breaker response — targeted activities for young people at risk, designed to divert them away from the justice system during high-risk periods. It is having an immediate and positive impact.

KWAC CEO Adrian McCann said:

“The partnership with PCYC reflects what works in Kununurra, organisations coming together, trusting community leadership and responding in ways that keep our young people safe and connected. We’re looking forward to continue this collaboration and build on what we know is making a real difference for our community.”

Laura Dunlop, Head of Youth Services at PCYC said:

“This partnership demonstrates that a strong continuum of services is critical in Kununurra. It builds on PCYC’s existing safeSPACE™ program and ensures young people receive appropriate support at the right time through a multi-agency response.
