We will come together tomorrow, April 25, to honour the men and women who served our nation. I encourage anyone who can make a Dawn Service or a Main Service to attend and keep the Spirit of ANZAC alive for those who paid the ultimate price. All services will be held at the cenotaphs.

The bush fire danger period will end at midnight tonight, 31 March 2026. A permit may not be required, however, you are still required to notify the NSW RFS and your neighbours 24 hours before you light a fire.

If you live within a FRNSW area (Bowraville, Kempsey, Macksville, Nambucca, South West Rocks), you will still be required to obtain a permit, even outside of the bush fire danger period.

Aerial Inspections - Our representatives will be conducting inspections of the electricity network in the Kempsey region, from 18th March 2026 using Drones.

These inspections form part of Essential Energy’s Bushfire Risk & Network Management plans and will help ensure the safety and reliability of the Network.

A hazard reduction burn is planned to be undertaken at South Kempsey tomorrow (Wednesday 25th February)

If you live nearby, please consider doing the following:
- Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering buildings.
- Outdoor items such as outdoor furniture, trampolines, playground equipment etc should be either taken inside or covered. Where this is not practical, items should be hosed down regularly to prevent ember damage.
- Retract plastic or synthetic pool covers to prevent ember damage
- Remove washing from clothes lines.
- Ensure any outdoor pets have a sheltered area.
- If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities. If smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice.
- If you are driving a vehicle, slow down, keep windows up and turn headlights on.
Never fly drones or Remote Piloted Aircraft near bush fires or hazard reductions, where other aircraft may be operating. Penalties apply.
