Koonya Garlic Festival 🧄Save the Date: 28th February 2026🧄 Out On A Limb are a branch of Tasmanian Regional Arts.

Garlic growers are abundant in Tasmania, from small domestic plots to commercial operations, this one-day unique event is a great opportunity for them to meet, share knowledge, eat delicious garlic inspired dishes and be entertained. This gathering of garlic lovers offers a positive, fun and slightly quirky reason to acknowledge common interests and activities through a unique local fair that will attract people interested in garlic from afar.

🧄 Koonya Hall 🧄

The Koonya Hall was built in the late nineteenth century to be a focus for community activities -and still functions as that. The frame and the exterior cladding are locally-milled timber, but the liner-boards are imported Baltic pine, and they don’t reach the ceiling – they only come halfway up the walls. The story is that the Baltic Pine liner boards were sitting at the Koonya wharf when someone decided that they would suit their house very nicely – the hall, 130 years later, is still not fully lined.*

The hall and its grounds have been home to our little festival since its inception twelve years ago, and for that we are very grateful.

The hall stands on the traditional lands of the Pydarerme People.

There are multiple ways to enter your garlic: from dropping off to an approved location, posting, or dropping off in person- strictly before 11 AM.
We can't wait to check out all the entries and find out who will be taking home the prizes - and the bragging rights!
