Since 2007, SSMRF has funded 83 research projects and awarded more than $9.14 million in medical research funding.

Behind every one of those projects is a researcher seeking answers, a new idea with the potential to improve patient care, and a community helping make it possible.

From cancer and women's health to paediatric research, immunity and chronic disease, SSMRF-funded research is helping improve health outcomes for our community.

As we approach EOFY, help us continue investing in the next generation of discoveries, treatments and improved patient care.

Early-stage funding is critical for turning promising ideas into future treatments.

Support from SSMRF helps researchers gather the pilot data needed to pursue larger projects, future therapies and additional funding opportunities.

EOFY donations help researchers take the next important step forward.

Immunotherapy can be life-changing — but it doesn’t work for everyone.

Dr Joyce Chiu’s research aims to help immune cells better enter and attack cancer, improving treatment outcomes for more patients.

There is still so much more we need to understand, and research funding plays a critical role in making that possible.

Support medical research this EOFY.

Our oceans face growing challenges from pollution, including plastic waste that can harm marine life and ecosystems.

Through Recycle for Research, every eligible bottle and can returned is one less container that could end up in our waterways and oceans. Since launching, the program has diverted over half a million containers from landfill and raised more than $50,000 to support medical research at St George and Sutherland Hospitals.

Two years ago, Dr Joyce Chiu’s mother was diagnosed with advanced cancer and given very little hope.

After treatment combining chemotherapy and immunotherapy, her condition improved dramatically.

Today, Dr Chiu is researching how immunotherapy can work for more patients and families facing cancer.

Your EOFY donation helps support the next generation of medical research.

What inspired Dr Joyce Chiu’s immunotherapy research is deeply personal.

After seeing the impact cancer treatment had on her own mother, Dr Chiu is now working to improve outcomes for future patients through cancer research supported by the St George & Sutherland Medical Research Foundation and Southern Cancer Care.

As we approach EOFY, your support helps fund vital early-stage medical research close to home.
