Saint Elesa Food Initiative

St. Elesa Food Initiative is an charitable program hosted by the Philoptohos of the Greek Orthodox Parishe of Kogarah.

It supports those in need by providing free home cooked meals, pantry items, clothes, sanitary packs & other needed items We support women, men and youth-based crisis centres and shelters as well as families in social housing and the homeless across Sydney. We provide free home cooked meals, pantry items, clothes, furniture, sanitary packs, manchester and any other needed items

We invite our community to participate in a number of ways including: donating fresh food items such as meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables, as well as non-perishable pantry items; new and pre loved clothing; hygiene products and monetary donations, gift cards or vouchers.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for our Panigiri, as we came together to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Myrtles. 🌿🤍

We are incredibly grateful to every person who volunteered their time, not only on the day, but throughout the weeks leading up to our celebration. A special thank you to those who were there from 5am, working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure everything was ready for the day ahead.

Thank you to Souvlaki Boys (®) for their generous donation of pita bread, to all those who set up stalls, prepared food, organised, served, cleaned, helped behind the scenes, and to every person who contributed in ways both big and small.

Despite the weather, it didn’t stop our community from coming together and making the day such a success. We are grateful for the support, generosity and hard work of everyone who helped make our Panigiri so special.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came to celebrate this beautiful feast with us and honour Our Lady of Myrtles. May the Panagia continue to protect and intercede for us all. 🙏🏼🤍

Another week at the St. Elesa Food Initiative.

Once again, thank you to all of our volunteers who give their time and effort week in and week out. We couldn’t do this without your support.

Last night, we hosted our 2026 St. Elesa Fundraiser at the Dolton House in Sylvania Waters.

In the presence of His Grace Bishop Christodoulos, our Parish Priests Fr. Athanasios and Fr. Socrates, and clergy from across our community, as well as His Grace Bishop Chrysostomos of Bukoba and Western Tanzania, we were honoured to gather in support of this special initiative. We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Archbishop Makarios for his presence and blessing.

A heartfelt thank you to all our sponsors, weekly volunteers, youth, families, and wider community. Your support allows us to continue serving and growing this ministry week after week.

What began as a small initiative has, by the grace of God and through your generosity, grown into something far greater than we could have imagined. We are humbled by the love and encouragement shown to us.

May St. Elesa continue to intercede for us all as we strive to serve Christ and one another. Thank you.
