Zoe Huijer (‘17) has five years of experience representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the criminal justice system.

Her commitment to Indigenous affairs took root during her Year 10 immersion at Loreto Kirribilli and has only deepened since – through internships in the Northern Territory and Western Australia, and a career spent working exclusively with vulnerable clients across community legal centres.

Admitted in 2021, Zoe has appeared in the Local and District Courts across both
metropolitan and regional jurisdictions, including almost three years based in Dubbo — one of NSW’s most significant regional centres for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. She has worked across Sydney, Western NSW, the Northern Territory and Western Australia, bringing both urban and remote practice experience to her clients.

Nabanita Shome is the Associate Director of the Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre, a Loreto Sisters’ social development organisation in West Bengal, India.

Her work spans rights-based community programs with a strong focus on human
trafficking prevention, child protection, and women’s empowerment. With over ten years of experience in the development sector, she brings deep expertise in community engagement, prevention strategies, and advocacy.

Nabanita’s work centres on building protective networks for women and children, strengthening survivor leadership, reducing stigma, and fostering collaboration among schools, law enforcement, and community leaders.

Harper Gracie (‘21) is a former School Captain of Loreto Kirribilli. Following her graduation, she moved to Melbourne to study at the University of Melbourne.

Supported by a university scholarship, Harper travelled to Kolkata, India, with her sister, Coco (’23), and together they spent time at the Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre.

During their visit, Harper and Coco were deeply inspired by the centre’s work and the profound impact the sisters and staff have on the lives of some of the most
vulnerable people in West Bengal.

Harper joins us at Federation to share
her experiences, reflect on what she learned during her time in Kolkata, and
discuss how we can continue to support the vital work of the Mary Ward Social
Centre from Australia.

Eliza Harvey (Blue ‘01) has almost two decades of experience in journalism in Australia and abroad. She’s the Associate Editor at business media startup “Rampart”, previously the Executive Producer of “Q+A” and “The Drum” flagship current affairs programs at ABC News.

Eliza started at the ABC in 2007, as a cadet journalist in the Hobart newsroom. She has reported from New South Wales and Western Australia with a particular focus on politics. Eliza was also the host of television news programs running across the ABC News Channel.

Of late, Eliza has thrown herself into podcasting. She’s a regular co-host on
the “News Club” program run by Squiz Media and founded her own podcast “Long Distance Call” while living in Indonesia and Lebanon with her family. In Beirut, Eliza had a brief stint outside journalism, working as a communications advisor to the UN.
