Read this slowly today. 🧡

You are stronger than you think. More capable than you realise. And every step forward counts, even the tiny ones, even the wobbly ones, even the ones that only you know about.

Keep going. You’ve got this, and you’re not doing it alone.

Find your patch of green (or blue). 🌊

Time outdoors can help your mood and ease stress, and this Mental Health Month Mental Health Australia is encouraging all of us to get out there. A beach walk, a picnic by the river, or sitting still and watching the clouds for a while.

Drop your favourite outdoor spot in the comments.

You’re allowed to feel it. All of it. 🧡

The grief, the anger, the fear, the heaviness: they’re not signs you’re doing recovery wrong. They’re signs you’re human, and feelings need to be felt to move through. Pushing them down just gives them a place to wait.

So no rushing, no pretending, no deadline on healing. Today, just be where you are. That’s the work, and it counts.

Nobody climbs without something pulling them back.

For people living with post-traumatic stress, that pull is real and heavy: the fear, the doubt, the hard days that whisper “stay down”. Here’s what matters, though. The people moving forward in recovery aren’t the ones with less resistance. They’re carrying the same weight, sometimes more, and climbing anyway, with everything still attached.

Deciding to heal doesn’t make the hard parts vanish. Sometimes they get louder before they get quieter. But every appointment kept, every honest conversation, every day faced builds strength, and slowly the balance shifts. The weight doesn’t disappear. You become stronger than the pull.

If you’re climbing with weight right now, that’s not struggling. That’s strength in action.

Ever gone scrolling through your camera roll looking for one photo and ended up somewhere lovely, three years deep?

The beach day you’d half forgotten. The dinner that went on for hours. The dog mid-zoomies. It turns out life hasn’t been all laundry and cooking after all, even when it feels that way. The evidence was in your pocket the whole time.

When life gets heavy, and for people living with post-traumatic stress it genuinely can, those little reminders matter. They’re proof you’ve laughed before and will again, proof you’ve handled ups and downs, proof the good moments are real even when the hard ones shout louder. So here’s your permission slip: take five minutes tonight, scroll back, and let yourself remember.

What’s a photo on your phone that always makes you smile? Tell us about it below.

When it comes to post-traumatic stress, the loudest opinion in the room is rarely the most informed one.

The wisest people are the ones still asking questions: of the research, of lived experience, of the person in front of them. Curiosity beats judgement every time, and it’s how stigma disappears. Stay curious.

Here’s a habit that takes two minutes and quietly changes how you see your whole life: a daily gratitude journal.

The trick is in what you point it at. Not stuff, but the things that actually fill a life: the experiences (the sunset drive, the laugh that got away from you), the relationships (the mate who called, the kid who hugged you at the door), and your own growth (the hard thing you handled better than last year). Three entries a night is plenty.

What it trains is attention. Most of us run on autopilot towards what’s missing, what’s next, what’s wrong. Gratitude pulls the lens back to what’s already here, and over weeks, that shift shows up in mood, sleep and how heavy the hard days feel. Appreciating what you have beats chasing more, every time.

Together We Thrive isn’t just this Mental Health Month’s theme. For trauma recovery, it’s the evidence.

Our blog looks at the deep link between connection and recovering from post-traumatic stress, and how to rebuild your circle one safe step at a time. A timely read for October: https://f.mtr.cool/53r3kx9k3s

FearLess is a community awareness organisation, not a medical provider. If you need support, please speak with your GP or call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

This Mental Health Month, FearLess looks at why trauma pulls people apart and the small, everyday ways connection helps recovery from post-traumatic stress.

Put the kettle on and pull up a chair. 🫖

Sharing a simple meal is one of the easiest ways to stay connected this Mental Health Month. Beans on toast count. So does a thermos and a park bench.

To the new dads: how are you really going? 🧡

Becoming a father is one of the biggest changes a bloke will ever go through, and one in 10 dads experience postnatal depression, most without ever being asked how they're travelling. Needing support in early parenthood isn't a failure of fatherhood. It's part of it.

If that's you, talking helps, and help exists. And if you know a new dad, check in on him this week. Not about the baby. About him.
