Ever thought about joining Rovers but can’t make it to your closest unit? Or maybe it is too far away to attend regularly? Tas Rovers are looking at starting a lone Rover Unit, members would have the opportunity to attend Rover camps, events, and activities throughout the year to connect with the wider Rover community in person.

Have you ever wished you could be part of a Rovers but can’t get to a physical Unit?

We're looking at starting a Tasmanian Lone Rover Unit for Rovers who are geographically isolated or don't have access to a local Unit.

Members would have the opportunity to attend Rover camps, events, and activities throughout the year to connect with the wider Rover community in person.

Lone groups in other states and countries have shown that online Rovering can be a great way to stay involved, make friends, and create new opportunities for adventure and development.

Last Tuesday night we had the honour of investing The Governor of Tasmania Her Excellency the Honourable Caroline Wells as the Chief Scout of Scouts Tasmania.

Her Excellency made her Scout Promise and was presented with the Scouts Tasmania State Scarf. We also had the honour of presenting Dr Walters with the Scouts Tasmania Supporters Scarf.

It was a wonderful night of activities with youth members from Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers attending. ⚜️

Scouts Tasmania is saddened by the loss of Robert "Bob" Bramley.
Bob's Scouting journey began as a Cub Scout and continued through to becoming a Leader with the Turners Beach Scout Group. He also served as Project Commissioner for Air Activities, sharing his passion for aviation and adventure with countless young people and fellow volunteers.
Even after relocating to the Northern Territory for work, Bob remained connected to Scouts Tasmania, offering support from afar and always willing to assist whenever he returned home.
Bob embodied the spirit of service and adventure that Scouting seeks to inspire. He gave generously of his time, skills, and enthusiasm, and his contribution to Scouting far exceeded anything he ever sought in return.
We extend our sincere condolences to Bob's family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched through Scouting and beyond. He will be remembered with gratitude and respect.

The family of Tasmanian pilot and youth su***de prevention advocate Robert 'Bob' Bramley has paid tribute to the 23yo after his Air Frontier plane crashed off Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory.

Bramley, from Kindred near Devonport, was flying alone on a non-commercial repositioning flight from Gove to Numbulwar when the plane went down in the Gulf of Carpentaria about 50km north-west of Alyangula on August 25.

His family said their “beloved Bob is gone”, remembering him as a courageous dreamer who circumnavigated Australia solo at 16 to raise awareness of youth su***de prevention and later founded Surviving Turbulence.

Police said they no longer held hope of finding him alive, with crews continuing to search for his body and the aircraft while the Australian Transport Safety Bureau investigates and Air Frontier grounds its Beechcraft Baron fleet.

Respect for their sacrifice.

As we reflect on ANZAC Day, we can take pride in an adventurous group of Tasmanian Venturers and Leaders who are currently in Türkiye and visiting Gallipoli. Tomorrow they will participate in the ANZAC day dawn service at ANZAC Cove and then they are attending the Lone Pine service.

Today our contingent attended the beach cemetery at Anzac cove. Where amongst the headstones is buried medic John Simpson. We met with the Australian ambassador to Turkiye and the head of Commonwealth war graves in Turkiye and the operations director from the UK head office. We then cleaned all the headstones in this cemetery of the fallen soldiers as a mark of respect. We were also privileged to have Bridget Teahan selected to read at the pre dawn service and received a special visit at our hotel of the regional governor for the area, who wanted to meet the amazing group everyone is talking about. This contingent is one that we should be justly proud of, the venturers and leaders are all doing a wonderful job of representing scouting, Tasmania and our country.
