Scouts Tasmania Scouts Tasmania is supported by the Tasmanian Government. Scouts has been around for over 100 years, when it was first founded in the UK in 1907.

Scouting provides young people, guided by adult volunteers, the opportunities to participate in programs, events, activities and projects that contribute to their growth as active citizens. Scouts Australia provides boys and girls aged 5 to 25 with fun and challenging opportunities to grow through adventure. With around 70,000 members, Scouts Australia is one of the largest youth development organisations in Australia. What makes us unique is our diverse range of activities that develop skills in young people such as leadership, teamwork, problem solving and communication from the age of 5 years old. Today’s Scouts can take part in an extraordinary variety of outdoor activities, from ‘traditional Scouting skills’ such as camping and bushcraft, through to more extreme challenges such as abseiling, overnight hiking, rafting, canoeing, canyoning, snow activities, rock climbing, sailing… even flying! The Scouts Australia Program also incorporates contemporary issues such as youth health, ‘responsible risk-taking’, vocational skills, and issues pertinent to Indigenous Australians. We offer an Award Scheme that encourages participation in the full range of activities available and provides recognition of individual achievement. Scouts Australia is an accredited member of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM), which has over 40 million members in 169 National Scout Organisations around the world. Since then Scouting has evolved into a worldwide movement of nearly 50 million young people and adult volunteers and is welcoming of all genders. Over the course of the program, we provide increasing opportunities for our members to take the initiative with ‘youth leading, adult supporting’ one of our fundamental goals. We provide an experience that is all about connecting with the outdoors; building new and existing friendships; learning new skills; and helping create a better world.

Hobart Gang Show opened last night for their 50th season! Tickets are still available for the remaining 3 shows in Hobart before heading to Ulverstone in October.

After the investiture of The Governor of Tasmania Her Excellency the Honourable Caroline Wells, she joined youth members in a variety of activities show casing Scouting and what it has to offer.

Some of the activities included Trangia Cooking, learning how to use a compass and the cardinal points, youth made displays for teaching and demonstrating knots, Scouts demonstrated the process of rigging and derigging a Patrol Boat and a display of the history of Scouts in Tasmania.

Thank you to everyone who made the evening a success. ⚜

Ever thought about joining Rovers but can’t make it to your closest unit? Or maybe it is too far away to attend regularly? Tas Rovers are looking at starting a lone Rover Unit, members would have the opportunity to attend Rover camps, events, and activities throughout the year to connect with the wider Rover community in person.

Have you ever wished you could be part of a Rovers but can’t get to a physical Unit?

We're looking at starting a Tasmanian Lone Rover Unit for Rovers who are geographically isolated or don't have access to a local Unit.

Members would have the opportunity to attend Rover camps, events, and activities throughout the year to connect with the wider Rover community in person.

Lone groups in other states and countries have shown that online Rovering can be a great way to stay involved, make friends, and create new opportunities for adventure and development.
