Quiet achiever and 3rd Year Bricklaying Apprentice Kade Morris of C&L Constructions, finished a very nice project last week at South Metropolitan TAFE Thornlie, under the guidance of Kris Schache and his team. This is a very nice decorative project requiring a high degree of skill and knowledge to complete. It has dog toothing, corbelling, plinths and 45 degree herringbone. Whilst you will not see this type of work in your average home, it does show what our young trade apprentices are capable of. Never be afraid to ask a brickie what he is capable of doing, as many are very proud of their past work and knowledge. Well done young Kade and good luck with the completion of your apprenticeship.

Congratulations to our newest bricklaying apprentices, Oliver Wade and Jack Ryan, who have officially commenced their apprenticeship journey with Patrick Keynes and the team at Keynes Masonry and Construction Pty Ltd.

Bricklaying is more than a trade, it’s an art. Every structure begins with craftsmanship that leaves a lasting legacy in our communities.

As Jason Seiler our National World Skills Champion prepares himself for the 48th International World Skills Competition in Shanghai (September), his training is now starting to intensify.
With a recent trip to Wollongong NSW, he was able to push himself to an even higher standard, undertaking ever increasing project complexity. Holding down a full-time job as a bricklayer in a small team, has also meant that he is pushing his endurance to levels of an elite athlete.

With great coaching staff around him, he has stayed the course and is well positioned for the big event later this year. Jason may even undertake a project at the Skills West Expo, July 23rd to 25th, alongside Regional Competitors at the Perth Convention Centre.
He may even give them a run for their money in the Speed Competition.

👏 Meet the First ABBTF GTO Apprentice in Victoria: Building the Future of Bricklaying.

We are proud to welcome John Pa Lay as the very first apprentice to join the ABBTF Group Training Organisation (GTO) program in Victoria!

John has recommenced his bricklaying apprenticeship through our GTO model and is currently a 3rd Year Apprentice. John is now continuing his journey with ABBTF while completing his remaining competency units at VIC University.

A huge thank you to Gavin Stone and the team at Stone Bricklaying Pty Ltd for supporting the next generation of skilled tradespeople. With a dedicated crew of five, including John, Stone Bricklaying is helping to build a stronger future for the bricklaying industry.
